Registeel (Japanese: レジスチル, Hepburn: Rejisuchiru) (REDGE-ee-steel[1]) is a Steel-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is one of the five Regis, along with Regirock, Regice, Regieleki, and Regidrago.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Registeel is a silver and dark gray Pokémon with seven red dots on its face and a short, bulky body. It has small stubby silver feet and hands with three fingers. It also has three small red triangles on its knuckles.
Behavior[]
It is speculated that Registeel was created from the metals found in fallen meteorites, which Regigigas then tempered underground. Along with its brethren, Registeel is fabled to have stopped the eruption at modern Snowpoint City before being sent away to Hoenn, where it was locked away for being too powerful. It is said to have transformed into a pillar of iron as it waited. Registeel communicates by flashing the lights on its head in varying patterns. To date, no one knows how Registeel or the other Regis feed, as all of them lack mouths or other orifices through which food may enter their bodies; they may not eat at all.
Natural Abilities[]
Registeel has an extremely hard but flexible body tempered by high pressure underground.
Evolution[]
Registeel does not evolve.

Sprites[]
Appearances[]
Anime[]
Pyramid King Brandon owns a Registeel which he caught in the ruins. He battled against Ash's Torkoal in the episode "Overjoyed!". It appeared again in "Pace—The Final Frontier!", where Brandon travels to the Sinnoh region to awaken and capture a wild Regigigas, but Pokémon Hunter J revives it by destroying the pillars with her Salamence's Hyper Beam. Brandon's Registeel, along with his Regirock and Regice stay at Snowpoint Temple in order to protect Regigigas.
Registeel also appeared in the movie Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew as one of the three guardians of the Tree of Beginning, along with Regice and Regirock.
Manga[]
Registeel's Only appearance was during the generation 3 arc when it and the other 2 Regis were awoken to stop Groudon and Kyogre from feuding. After doing that with Superpower, they went to the mountains to rest and were caught by the manga counterpart of Pyramid King Brandon, who later used it to battle Crystal’s Hitmonchan(Used by Emerald). It was defeated after successive hits from Fire Punch and Sky Uppercut, but also defeated its foe with Toxic damage.
Super Smash Bros[]
It has only appeared in the Wii U iteration of the game as a rarely spawning obstacle in the Ironworks Chamber of the Pokémon League (Kalos) stage, where it will use stomp to hit Grounded fighters and cause the swords stuck in the stage to fly upwards and hit fighters as well.
Trivia[]
- Registeel resembles a robot, but because it possesses biological functions and isn't of synthetic origin, it can be inferred that it is an extraterrestrial organism, as it is also described as being composed of metal seemingly "not of this earth."
- Registeel also appeared (likely unlicensed) in the popular online game "Epic Battle Fantasy."
- Registeel is the only Regi that says its name when sent in battle according to "A Pyramiding Rage!".
- Registeel in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, however, is the only Regi that does not say its name when speaking.
- Registeel, along with Klink, Klang, Klinklang, Mega Aggron, Meltan, Melmetal, Galarian Meowth, Perrserker, Cufant, Copperajah, and Arceus holding an Iron Plate, are the only pure Steel-type Pokémon.
- However, before Generation VI, Mawile was a pure Steel type.
- Registeel's sprite was changed when Diamond and Pearl were localized for the European market, as its sprite resembled a Nazi salute (albeit with its left arm instead of its right). Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver would use the European sprite.
- Registeel has a doll form programmed into the international Generation III Hoenn games that cannot be obtained via hacking.
- Said item can only be obtained in Japan via an e-Reader card.
- Its abilities are identical to Metagross and its pre evolutions.
- It and Probopass have the highest base Special Defense of all steel types.
- In the original Mystery Dungeon games, their phrases use a different font from other Pokémon.
Origin[]
Registeel is based on a golem, an artificial creature from Hebrew legend given life through the writing on its head. As the legendary titans appear to be based on ages of human history, Registeel appears to be based on the Iron Age, which lasted from 1200 BCE to 500 BCE, and the Bronze Age (as its Shiny coloration resembles corroded bronze), which lasted from 3300 BCE to 1200 BCE.
Etymology[]
Registeel and Rejisuchiru come from "regis" (Latin for "royal") and "steel."
