The unknown Pokémon being caught
This unknown Pokémon only appeared in the manga Pokémon Pocket Monsters. It was caught by the main character Red in Viridian Forest, but escaped a short time later.
It is often thought to be of the Bug type, although it is also theorized that the Pokémon may be an off-model representation of Diglett; the Pocket Monsters manga has been known for off-model representations (including Persian's forehead gem being misinterpreted as a third eye) based on the sprites seen in Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Green. It is possible that the dirt surrounding Diglett was misinterpreted as numerous legs, and its nose as a mouth.[1]
