Rabsca (Japanese: ベラカス, Hepburn: Berakasu) (RABB-skuh[1]) is a Bug/Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Rabsca is a teal, pokemon that resembles a beetle. It floats in the air, carrying a purple, semi-translucent ball. It is upside down at all times a red face with white, furry protrusions from its face that resemble an extra set of legs. It's back possesses red patterns and sometimes it's eyes glow when it opens them.
Behavior[]
Rabsca's hind legs carry a large, purple ball above its head. The ball is coated in purple goo save for a small opening on the front that is mostly transparent. Within the rough-shaped ball is a smaller ball with which an unborn creature can be seen. It is speculated that the pokemon carrying the ball is nothing more than a proxy for the pokemon within the ball. It is likely based on the Dung Beetle which rolls its namesake into a ball to use as either a food source or a mating chamber, which could be the reference the unborn creature within Rabsca's ball may hint to.

The body that supports the ball barely moves. Therefore, it is thought that the true body of this Pokémon is actually inside the ball.
- Violet
An infant sleeps inside the ball. Rabsca rolls the ball soothingly with its legs to ensure the infant sleeps comfortably.

Trivia[]
Origin[]
Rabsca appears to be based on a dung beetle, specifically the sacred scarab. It's also likely based on Khepri, the scarab beetle-like Egyptian god of the sunrise, sometimes considered to be an aspect or avatar of the sun god Ra.
Etymology[]
Rabsca is "scarab" with the syllables swapped.
Other languages[]
Berakasu, its Japanese name, is スカラベ (sukarabe, Japanese for "scarab") with the syllables reversed.
