Quaxly (Japanese: クワッス, Hepburn: Kuwassu) (KWACKS-lee[1]) is a Water-type First partner Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. It is the First partner Pokémon for the Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Physiology[]
Quaxly appears as a small white duck with teal feet, a round yellow beak, sapphire connected eyes, and a teal beret of feathers. It has a thin secondary layer of feathers at its chest. Its feathers contain a glossy gel that protect Quaxly from water and grime.
Behavior[]
Quaxly is described to as the tidiest and earnest Duckling Pokémon. It is prone to overthinking and is very insistent on maintaining a good appearance, keeping itself clean at all times. It does not like having its coif dirtied.
Natural Abilities[]
Quaxly's legs enable it to swim even in strong currents. It can also kick foes at swift speed.
Evolution[]
Quaxly evolves into Quaxwell at level 16.

- Quaxly is the fourth First partner Pokémon to be based on an bird, following Torchic, Piplup and Rowlet.
- Quaxly is also the second Water-type starter to be based on a bird, the first being Piplup who is based on a Penguin.
- Quaxly is the First partner Pokémon that isn't native to Paldea, due to migrating to the region from faraway places and distant lands a long time ago.
Origin[]
Quaxly resembles a white duckling more specifically the crested duck breed, with its "hat" resembling a sailor's cap and the symbol on it resembling a wave of water. It's blue colored feet also draws to mind a Blue-footed booby.
It’s appearance also has similarities to the popular Disney character: Donald Duck.
Etymology[]
Quaxly originates from "Quack", the sound a duck makes, and "wax", referring to its waxy crest.
