Psystrike is a Psychic-type move that introduced in Generation V. It is the signature move of Mewtwo. It is considered to be a stronger version of Psyshock.

Description

Effect

Psystrike inflicts damage. Despite being classified as Special move, this move calculates damage using the user's Special Attack and the opponent's Defense stat.

Mega Mewtwo Y using Psystrike in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

In the Super Smash Bros. series, Psystrike appears as Mewtwo's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Upon activating Psystrike, Mewtwo Mega Evolves into Mega Mewtwo Y, then fires a large ball of psychic energy across the screen in the direction Mewtwo is facing, stunning any opponents in its path. The stunned opponents then take heavy damage and are launched away as Mewtwo returns to normal. Opponents can be stunned even if they are in the air.

Afterward, every foe hit with the projectile will take a powerful psychic hit to the head. PAL: Mewtwo's Final Smash starts as it Mega Evolves into Mega Mewtwo Y, then fires a huge psychic projectile that penetrates enemies and obstacles, but doesn't do any damage. It's only afterwards that every foe the projectile hit freezes in place and takes a powerful psychic hit to the head. They can even be frozen mid-jump!
