Pokémon have many experiences in their lives, just like we do. I, too, have seen and suffered much in my life. Since I am your elder, let me show you what I mean. I have been with Pokémon since before you were born. I do not lose easily. I, Pryce—the winter trainer—shall demonstrate my power!
Pryce in Gold, Silver and Crystal
Pryce is the seventh Gym Leader in the Johto region. He trains Ice type Pokémon in both the anime and the video games. In the video games, the player character gets to battle him after solving the Team Rocket problem in Mahogany Town. He will award the player character the Glacier Badge if he is defeated.
Appearance[]
Pryce is an bald old man with short white hair with three upper spiked fringe on front and two spikes in each sides, brown eyes and pale skinned. He usually has a displeased look on his face. Pryce supports himself with a gray cane, which has a brown top.
Gold and Silver[]
Pryce wears a short sleeved striped shirt with a white collar, as well as a pair of brown shorts and shoes.
Crystal[]
Pryce's appearance remains the same as it is in Gold and Silver.
HeartGold and SoulSilver[]
Pryce wears a brown shirt, with the neck area having white color. He has a white scarf, a long blue jacket with azure buttons, some beige pants and brown shoes.
Personality[]
Etymology[]
The name Pryce comes from "ice".
His Japanese name, Yanagi, may come from 山羊 (yagi, "goat" in Japanese, possibly in reference to mountain goats, whose thick fur, thick fat, and fatty, energy-storing humps help them survive in cold environments, or possibly in reference to Capricorn, a zodiac constellation depicting a goat that the sun passes through during the winter). Following the plant-based naming of most Gym Leaders, it may also include 柳 (yanagi, Japanese name for the willow tree).
