As Spearow[]
Professor Oak sent out his Fearow when it still was a Spearow in a battle against Green and her Jigglypuff. Spearow was hit by Green's Jigglypuff's Tri Attack and appeared to be down, but struck back with Fury Attack. Jiggly tried to use Sing on Spearow, but they were repelled back by the Fury Attack. Green then sent out her Blasty and used Hydro Pump, but Spearow used Mirror Move and was able to use Hydro Pump as well. Blasty used Water Gun, but it was struck again with the same move as Hydro Pump, as Spearow used Mirror Move again, knocking out Blasty and making Professor Oak the win.[1]
A year later, when Yellow came and took Pika to find Red, Professor Oak became suspicious of him, and sent Spearow to battle. He had it use Fury Attack to test Yellow, reminding Red, who became the Champion two years ago, had been recently defeated by a powerful enemy. Spearow used Mirror Move on Yellow's Dody, who used Whirlwind to cancel the attack. Dody circled around Spearow, who fainted from confusion, and Pika caught him before it fell to the ground. it eventually came to its senses and was petted by Yellow[2]
The match between Professor Oak's Spearow and Green's Blasty from the Pokémon League had been documented on video, which the Pokémon fan club chairman watched.[3]
Two years later, Spearow was with Professor Oak, who contacted Professor Elm in Johto, to speak about Gold, whom both have encountered recently.[4]
As Fearow[]
Spearow was revealed to have evolved into Fearow when Orm attacked Professor Oak. Professor Oak called Fearow and his Kangaskhan to stop Orm and his army of Shuckle but they were both defeated easily.[5]
When Scott spoke with the Frontier Brains, he remembered Professor Oak and his Pokémon, for it was that scientist that calculated on which day and place Jirachi would appear.[6]
