When Prof. Icarus was a child, he witnessed a flying phenomenon in the night, so had his goal of studying astrophysics. Once done, he participated in many interviews, claiming if one were to master the dark matter, one can transport to any point in universe. However, he retired and started constructing his flying saucer. He also encountered a lone Elgyem and took care of it, and, through time, befriended it. Team Rocket came with a scam to steal Elgyem, but Icarus, along with the heroes, managed to save Elgyem. Icarus wanted to bring Elgyem back to space, but Elgyem wanted to stay with Icarus, who allowed it.
