As a reminder for readers: If you don't want to be spoiled we highly recommend that you avoid using Recent Changes, Social Activity, our /New content sub-page and similar pages with updates to such content.
If you see spoiler content elsewhere in discussions please let us know on the Pokémon Center Post, providing a link to the post/comment by hovering over the three dots.

This policy is a list of principals regarding spoiler content and leaks. On a general note, use common sense and don't assume that everything you see at face value is actually true. The spoiler guidelines do not apply to the TCG area of the franchise.

Discussions rules

By "Release Date and Time" we will be referring to Japan's official release date and time. (UTC+09:00) - Depending on the timezone, for the vast majority of users outside of Japan and Korea, it will be at least a couple of hours earlier.

  1. Spoilers regarding game franchises should not be discussed on separate posts or comments until 30 days after the release date passes. If needed, Thread-Moderators should ping the user or provide a link to the correct post.
    1. This includes, in the form of images and names:
      1. Newly released characters
      2. Newly released Pokémon and Pokémon with alternate formes including Mega and Gigantamax transformations
      3. Newly released items
      4. Game Trailers, and other videos regarding the game itself.
    2. Spoilers listed in the criteria above regarding major plot twists/endings may only be commented 90 days after release.
  2. Spoiler content as outlined in /New content should only be permitted in the following threads:
    1. The Pokémon Teaser Megathread.
    2. Online Connection Post only for the purpose of trade or battle requests.
    3. Pokémon Center Post and Competitive Battle Discussion, but only to be used for their intended purposes.
  3. Separate posts and comments regarding content, images and videos of leaks not acquired officially by the game's developer or the anime company before the release date will be deleted. Thread-moderators may also permit block requests to administrators in such cases.
    1. This criterion also applies to the threads listed above.
  4. In cases of arguments as to what constitutes spoilers, the rest of the Communication policy still applies.

Anime discussions

Future release labeling

  • Any discussion of episodes not yet aired on TV Tokyo or its simultaneous broadcast affiliates (TV Hokkaido, Aichi, Osaka, Setouchi, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting) must clearly identify itself as trailer, spoiler, or summary content in the title or opening of the post. This includes any previews, leaks, or early-release information.

Post-airing

  • Once an episode has officially aired on TV Tokyo, discussion threads and posts can freely cover all content from that episode from that point onward. Topics must remain relevant to the progression of the show as it has aired up to that point, without referencing unaired material.

Special cases

  • Ongoing dubbed releases (in English or any other language) can be discussed, but should be restricted to what has occurred in the dubbed version so far. Re-releases (e.g. reruns on Kids Station, platform drops on streaming, or DVD rollouts) should also remain on-topic to the version or broadcast timeline being discussed. Spoilers for future or unaired content must be clearly labeled.

This system helps prevents unintended spoilers across different regional and language airings.

Wiki content rules

  • On anime episode pages and manga chapters, a {{Spoilerbegin}} notice should be included following the article lede and preceding the synopsis sections for all episodes and chapters, while also adding {{Spoilerend}} at the bottom. This is to provide guidance for people who have not viewed the episode or chapter and wish to refrain from scrolling down.
  • Editors willing to update anime episode articles unreleased in Japan must be tagged with Upcoming content tags above the infobox. This encourages users to refrain from inserting speculation while signaling that the subject has not been released. Use the following transclusion below:
{{Upcoming content}}
