Pokémon TV was an application that allowed users to watch select episodes of Pokémon the Series for free. It was available for download on various platforms including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku Channel Store, Amazon Appstore, Amazon Fire TV and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, there was a website version available.

Originally, Pokémon TV started in November 2010 as a website operated by The Pokémon Company, offering fans the opportunity to watch English-dubbed episodes of the series. It eventually evolved into a mobile app in February 2013, maintaining its identity throughout. The content was offered on a rotational basis, with 12 episodes available at any given time. Each week, the available episodes would advance to the next batch, cycling through the entire series in chronological order in which this process would repeat.

In more recent years, the Pokémon TV app's interface was updated so that the first two seasons of the original series, Pokémon the Series: The Beginning, along with Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon and Pokémon Journeys: The Series, were permanently available. Conversely, the final three seasons of the original series, Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver, as well as Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon the Series: Black & White and Pokémon the Series: XY and Pokémon the Series: XYZ, were placed on a rotational system, with one season being featured every few months at a time. Following this period, a new season would be added before transitioning to the next series. The app also periodically featured one of the movies and TV specials for a limited time.

As of January 8, 2024, the official Pokémon website announced that Pokémon TV would be discontinued after 14 years, with services ending on March 28.[1]

As announced on December 2, 2024, the official Pokémon YouTube channel announced that Pokémon TV became a YouTube channel as of December 6.[2]

Available content[]

Languages[]

The application supported 13 languages: English (British and American), French, German, Italian, Spanish (European and Latin American), Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Norwegian and Finnish. It was not accessible in Asian countries due to being operated by The Pokémon Company International, not The Pokémon Company, which has rights in Asia. Consequently, Japan, Hong Kong, the Phillippines, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mainland China and Taiwan were excluded from access. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version was not available in New Zealand, although it was expected to be released.

Specials[]

Pokémon Origins and Pokémon: Twilight Wings were released in English, French, German, Italian and European Spanish. Pokémon Origins expanded availability to include Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese. These specials made their debut on Pokémon TV in the United States.
