X was a Pokémon Trainer child prodigy. He hated the shine of the spotlight, so he took to hiding in his room and avoiding everyone-including his best friend Y. But now a surprise attack has brought X out of hiding!
In Kalos, X prepares for a rematch against Blue, a senior Pokédex holder. Meanwhile, the scheming Lysandre and Team Flare are up to no good at the mysterious Pokémon Village.
Plus, a Mega Evolution occurs, the powerful Sundial is uncovered, and the Order Pokémon appears. What other new dangers await X, Y, and their friends?[4]

A story about young people entrusted with Pokédexes by the world's leading Pokémon researchers. Together with their Pokémon, they travel, do battle, and evolve!
The Kalos region, Vanville Town—four close childhood friends are trying to get the reclusive X out of his room when the legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal suddenly appear. Then they are all attacked by a mysterious group wearing red suits who try to steal the Mega Ring that X wears on his arm like a bracelet. After Korrina's Key Stone is stolen, Lysandre gains the power to Mega Evolve. X decides to confront Lysandre, who is wielding a Mega Gyarados. The Gym Leaders gather to stop the Ultimate Weapon from being activated, but they are too late. Now, Xerneas calls out to them to place the Ultimate Weapon inside a Poké Ball.[4]

I received quite a lot of responses when I wrote about "Pokémon GO" in the author comment for "X•Y" volume 3. I was writing about how difficult it was to complete the Pokédex. It really is hard work. There have been updates of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos. So far, the only Pokédex I've managed to complete is Kanto. I would at least like to complete the Johto Pokédex. Where are you, Corsola? (To be continued…)[4]

[4]The "X•Y" arc has entered the second half of the story. There are so many scenes leading up to the climax that I'd like to draw as the cover illustration. I can't make up my mind. I had several candidates for the cover illustration of this volume too, but as you can see, I ended up with this illustration. If you look at the final product, it seems like Xerneas is shaped like a "Y" and Yveltal is shaped like an "X", but that is a complete coincidence ("laugh").[4]
