X was a Pokémon Trainer child prodigy. He hated the shine of the spotlight, so he took to hiding in his room and avoiding everyone-including his best friend Y. But now a surprise attack has brought X out of hiding!
The Legendary Pokémon Xerneas has transformed into a great tree, and whoever can possess it will also be in control of immense power! Trainer Korrina lost her battle as well as her key stone. Feeling responsible for Korrina's defeat, X retreats once more into his home.
Will X's friends ever get him to come back out of hiding again?![4]
The Story Thus Far[]
A story about young people entrusted with Pokédexes by the world's leading Pokémon researchers. Together with their Pokémon, they travel, do battle, and evolve!
The Kalos region, Vanville Town—four close childhood friends are trying to get the reclusive X out of his room when the legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal suddenly appear. Then they are all attacked by a mysterious group wearing red suits who try to steal the Mega Ring that X wears on his arm like a bracelet. After escaping, the five friends embark on a journey to Lumiose City, where Professor Sycamore resides. Advised to travel by air by Cassius, the keeper of the Pokémon Storage System, X, Y and their friends are attacked and forced into a sky battle with Yvette, a girl from Y's Sky Trainer school who often bullied Y. Their helicopter breaks apart and Y crash- lands, where she overhears Malva from Team Flare talking about Celosia's plans to control the people of Vaniville Town to use them to capture and transport the great tree.[4]

Message from Hidenori Kusaka[]
Every Pokémon Trainer knows the iconic phrase "I choose you!" but it's never been uttered out loud in the Pokémon Adventures manga series. For many years, I've been wondering to myself, "Will there ever be a time when our main character will utter that phrase…?" And now the time has finally come. Please enjoy "X•Y" volume 4, the first time we ever get to say the phrase "I choose you!" in the manga.[4]
Message from Satoshi Yamamoto[]
The X-Y arc is a story about the weak standing up to someone who seems to have absolute authority, who is selfishly planning to rob those they perceive as weak (in this case X, Y, and their friends) of their futures. I think the one-page illustration that best represented that was Adventure 26's chapter title page. I always believed that I could have done an even better job on that piece, though, and I wanted to draw it in color for the "Pokémon Adventures" collected volumes. That is the concept I was going for with the cover illustrations for these new "X•Y" editions.[4]
