A story about young people entrusted with Pokédexes by the world's leading Pokémon researchers. Together with their Pokémon, they travel, do battle, and evolve!
Some place in some time… a young Trainer named Black, who dreams of winning the Pokémon League, receives a Pokédex from Professor Juniper and sets off on his journey to collect the eight Gym Badges he needs to enter next year's Pokémon League. On the way, he meets White, the owner of a Pokémon talent agency, and the two travel together.
Unbeknownst to our heroes, an evil organization named Team Plasma is telling people to give up their Pokémon and return them to the wild. What is their ulterior motive?
After meeting N, the King of Team Plasma, she decides to learn some battle skills. She boards the Battle Subway, and she and black part ways. meanwhile, the Unova region Gym Leaders join forces with Black to prevent Team Plasma from stealing the mysterious Dark Stone from the Nacrene Museum… but the Dark Stone is taken and the Gym Leaders are kidnapped!
Determined to rescue them and defeat Team Plasma, Black begins training hard with Brycen…[2]

- Black - A Trainer whose dream is to win the Pokémon League. A passionate young man who, once he sets out to accomplish something, can't be stopped. He also does his research and plans ahead. He has special deductive skills that help him analyze information to solve mysteries.
- White - The President of BW Agency. Her dream is to develop the careers of Pokémon stars. She takes her work very seriously and will do anything to support her Pokémon actors.
- Brycen - The quite calm Gym Leader of Iccirus City.
- Drayden - The mayor and Gym Leader of Opelucid City. Specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon.
- Iris - A lively girl who is studying under Drayden to become a Dragon-type Pokémon Trainer.
- Alder - The Champion of the Unova region. He is usually traveling and training.
- Marshal - One of the Elite Four. An earnest man who appreciates good manners.
- N - The King of Team Plasma. He has awakened the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom.
