A Poké Mart is a type of location introduced in Generation I.
Description[]
A Poké Mart has the basic role of being a shop where the player can buy items. There is usually at least one type of healing item, Poké Ball, or Letter available. The items sold at Poké Marts are inorganic and are usually manufactured by Silph Co. or Devon Corporation. There are a few non-playable characters around the aisles, and they can suggest items for the player to purchase.
A Poké Mart can be found in most towns and cities, although some areas have a medicine shop, an item boutique, or some other type of shop instead.
The player can sell items to a Poké Mart for Pokémon Dollars, even if they are not part of the inventory, but not key items. Selling items to a Poké Mart is particularly useful when selling valuable items, which have no function other than to be sold for a lot of money. Items that can be bought at a Poké Mart can be sold back at usually half the price.
In some games, around the start of the player's journey, there is a Poké Mart employee in a certain location outside of the Poké Mart who gives the player a Potion as a free sample.
Poké Marts are counterparts of Pokémon Centers, which they have a similar exterior design to. Poké Marts and Pokémon Centers in the same location are often in close proximity to one another. Poké Marts are labeled "MART" in the first three generations. Since Generation III, Poké Marts can be recognized for having a distinct blue roof, which often depicts a Poké Ball symbol, and a sliding door is used to enter instead of a regular door. From Generation V onward, Poké Marts have been integrated into the Pokémon Center, although remakes of games from earlier generations still keep the two types of buildings separate.
In the first three generations, every Poké Mart has a set assortment of items. Since Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, the inventory within Poké Marts change as the player earns more Gym Badges, with more effective items becoming increasingly available for sale, but some items are still exclusive to certain locations.
Most regions have a larger variation of a Poké Mart known as a department store, which sell a greater variety of items from a few different counters. Cities with a department store do not have a Poké Mart, except Celadon Department Store in Cerulean City, as well as Hau'oli City, which features a Shopping Mall with a few unique shops instead.

In Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version and Pokémon Yellow Special Pikachu Edition, there are nine Poké Marts. Every city and town has a Poké Mart except Pallet Town. Before entering any Poké Mart, the player can get a free Potion from a Poké Mart employee on Route 1.
The first Poké Mart is located in the eastern part of Viridian City, next to the Trainers' School. When the player enters for the first time, the clerk asks if they are from Pallet Town and gives them Oak's Parcel, asking them to give it to Professor Oak. Fulfilling the task is required not only to purchase items at the Poké Mart but also to progress to Route 2 by having the Old man no longer obstruct the path. This Poké Mart is the only one to have a role during the plot.

The third Poké Mart is located in the southern side of Cerulean City. The location also has the larger Celadon Department Store.

In Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, the same nine Poké Marts appear in the Kanto region, retaining their purpose, in addition to five being located on the Sevii Islands. The only functional difference with the Poké Marts from the original Generation I games is the form on the left side of the counter, which is used to unlock the Mystery Gift feature and receive any gifts they have received from the clerk.
On the Sevii Islands, the Poké Mart of Three Island is at the northeast; Four Island's is south of the Pokémon Center; Six Island's is next to the Pokémon Center; Seven Island's is on the west side; and Trainer Tower's is integrated within the lobby.
Pokémon Emerald Version[]

Two more Poké Marts were added, one in Trainer Hill and the other at the Battle Frontier, for a total of fourteen Poké Marts.
Like in Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, Poké Marts have a survey on the counter where the player can enter a phrase to unlock the Mystery Gift feature and receive any gifts through the feature from the clerk.

In Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version and Pokémon Platinum Version, there are fourteen Poké Marts, two of which are located in the autonomous Battle Zone region.
These games mark the first instance of two sellers appearing in certain Poké Marts; the seller on the right always sells the usual set of items, with more becoming available as the player acquires more Gym Badges; while the seller on the left specializes in selling items unique to the location. Unlike the previous two generations, Poké Balls are available for purchase from the start, which would be the case for later games in the core series except remakes of earlier games. If the player receives either an event item or an Event Pokémon, they can receive it from a green-clad messenger in the Poké Mart.

In Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version, the same Poké Marts are retained from the original Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version and Pokémon Crystal Version, in addition to another being added in the northwest side of Frontier Access. However, Poké Marts have mostly the same role as in the Sinnoh games.
There is an event where if the player agrees to have their Mom help save their money, she sometimes calls the player to inform them that she accidentally spent their Pokémon Dollars on an item. The player can receive any items their Mom has bought from a deliveryman in either a Poké Mart or the Goldenrod Department Store.
Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version / Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2[]
In both paired games of Generation V, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version and Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, the Poké Mart is at a light blue counter on the right side in every Pokémon Center. There are two cashiers, with the upper one selling the regular inventory of items and the lower one selling items specific to a location.
In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, the first Poké Mart is in Aspertia City; this is the first time that a Poké Mart is in the same location where the player starts their journey.
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y[]
In Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, the Poké Mart is located in the room to the right of the Pokémon Center. There are usually two salespeople: The one on the left sells usual goods like Poké Balls and Potions, while the goods of the right salesperson vary. In earlier towns, the right cashier sells X Attacks, X Defenses, and the like, while in later towns, he either sells Stat-boosting items like Protein or does not appear at all. There are three Poké Marts in Lumiose City.
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire[]
In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Poké Marts are separate buildings, a consistency retained from the original Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version. The counters and interior of the Poké Marts have a more polished style, and a nod to TV Mauville can be seen on some of the shelves.
If the player enters a Poké Mart with a Hoopa in their party, a different clerk appears on the left side. After telling a long story about an experience he had, the clerk gives a Prison Bottle to the player capable of unleashing Hoopa.
A Collector in the Poké Mart in Sootopolis City gives you TM083 when you answer "Lisia" to his question.
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon / Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon[]
In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, Poké Marts are once again integrated into Pokémon Centers. However, the Thrifty Megamart on Royal Avenue can be considered a standalone Poké Mart, selling both common and special items.
Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee![]
In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!, Poké Marts are standalone buildings, like previous games set in the Kanto region.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield[]
In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, Poké Marts are located at the right counter within a Pokémon Center, but some also appear in train stations and stadiums. Hammerlocke has a Poké Mart with its building and a different appearance, but it has the same purpose as regular Poké Marts.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet[]
In Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Poké Marts are at the rightmost blue counter of a Pokémon Center, which has been repurposed into an elongated, multi-section outdoor stall.
Anime[]
Poké Marts appear in some episodes of Pokémon the Series and retain their usual purpose of selling items for Pokémon Trainers to use on their Pokémon.
In "When a House Is Not a Home!", a Poké Mart is seen while Ash and Goh search a Grookey. From surveillance footage, the two discover that Grookey is owned by Team Rocket.
