Poffin

Poffin are roll-like items that were introduced in Generation IV. Their name is a cross between Pokémon and Muffin. They are used to boost a Pokémon's Contest stats: Beauty, Tough, Cool, Smart, or Cute. Poffin are like PokéBlocks from Generation III. Poffins are made from specific berries. In the Diamond and Pearl series, Dawn makes her own poffins.

Making Poffins

Poffins are made from Berries. The flavor of the berry determines the flavor of the Poffin. You are able to make Poffins at the Poffin House in Hearthome City. However, you must obtain the Poffin Case from the Pokémon Fan Club chairman, also in Hearthome City, in order to do so.

Poffin levels can be found with this formula:

$L = \frac{60B}{T} - (b + s)$

B is the base level (Berries are always categorized in specific numbers that are their base levels and is analogous to the chemicals of the periodic table; always look for the berry's number)

T is the time taken in seconds (range between > 0 and < 60)

b is the number of burns

s is the number of spills

Example:

Find the level of a Poffin that has 3 burns and 1 spill, is finished for 47 seconds, and Passho Berry is used. (Passho Berry has a base level of 37)

Substituting everything from the formula above:

$L = \frac{60\times 37}{47} - (3 + 1)$

$L = \frac{2220}{47} - 4$

$L \doteq 47.23 - 4$

$L \doteq 43.23$

Rouding it off to the nearest poffin level:

$L \doteq 43$

Therefore, the level of the Poffin is 43.

Likes or dislikes

Depending on a Pokémon's nature, they might prefer Sour poffins, Sweet Poffins, etc. These are the second coming of PokéBlocks from R/S/E.

Beware if it overflows or burns because it will worsen the poffin's flavor and the Pokémon may dislike it, unless if it eats anything happily. The faster you finish the poffin, the bigger the flavor of the poffin and it might even become a Mild Poffin. To get a free one, talk to a Rich Guy in Hearthrome City in the front of the counter and he will give you a Mild Poffin and steps aside and lets you enter a contest. You don't have to always enter the contest although.

Anime

Dawn often makes them for her Pokémon. Like Munchlax with PokéBlocks, Dawn's Mamoswine loves to eat Poffins.
