This Plusle (along with a Minun) were once the Pokémon of an old researcher that worked for Sea Mauville. Once he passed away, the two were tasked to protect an important scanner locked away deep inside the ship. They can be described as playful tricksters as they both fed Ruby's Pokémon with berries which later on confuse them. They take a shine to Ruby and Sapphire once they started fighting Team Magma for the scanner.This Plusle is later seen again during Ruby and Sapphire's training on Mirage Island with Tate and Liza.
