The Partner the deuteragonist in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games that are chosen by the player after choosing the Pokémon player character. It cannot be the same species or type as the player, e.g. if the player is Fire type, then a Fire-type partner cannot be chosen. There are a few species the Partner can be that are not available for the Player to play as.

The Partner one day found the Relic Fragment, and it inspired them to pursue a life as and explorer, thought their timidity prevented them from joining a guild and registering as an official explorer.
Gates to Infinity[]
The Partner had been alone without friends or family for as long as they could remember and the worsening relationships between the Pokémon of the world made it difficult to find and real friends. In search of true friends, the Partner saved up money to buy a barren piece of land from Quagsire in order to build a Paradise for all Pokémon.
