Etymology[]
Her name comes from the Guaranà plant (Paullinia cupana) in Japanese (Garana), English (Palina) and Italian (Guaran).
In Italian "palina" is also a typical mooring pole used in Venice lagoon. This could be an hint for her relationship with Iscan and the place where they both live.
Biography[]
She's grown near to Iscan and has been the warden of the previous Lord of Isles that accidentally died drowning in the sea. After the death of the Hisuian Arcanine, who was the precedent Lord, she took care of the little Growlithe who is the son of the said Arcanine. She has also grown to like Iscan after he and Basculegion saved both her and the little Growlithe from the raging ocean when she was trying to rescue the small Growlithe.
Pokémon[]
While Palina doesn't have a team of Pokémon, she protects two Hisuian Growlithe until the little one evolves into Hisuian Arcanine, becoming a Noble Pokémon and taking the role of Lord of the Isles.
Trivia[]
- Palina is really similar to Ilima and could be his ancestor.
- She used to be good at swimming, but after the death of the Noble Arcanine, she no longer likes to approach water or Water-type Pokemon.
