Pikachu's Rescue Adventure (Japanese: ピカチュウたんけんたい The Pikachu Expedition) is the fourth of the Pikachu shorts. It comes with the movie The Power of One.
Synopsis[]
As with before, the faces of the main human characters are unseen. When Togepi falls down a dark hole, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Marill, Venonat, and Psyduck give chase and find themselves in a giant tree that once was Pikachu's old home. With help from Pikachu's friend, Elekid, the Pokémon find Togepi, though they have been mistaken for an Exeggcute egg. The Pokémon head off into the depths of the tree to find the missing egg, meeting a trio of dancing Bellossom along the way. A deadly storm hits the area and Pikachu and his friends try to protect the Exeggcute eggs from being blown away by using attacks, such as Thunderbolt and Water Gun. The tree Pokémon lend a hand and Snorlax saves everyone with its great strength. The storm fades when a Dragonair appears and calms the storm and a Chansey appears, revealing they had the missing egg all along. The eggs are reunited. Exeggcute suddenly evolves into Exeggutor with the assistance of a Leaf Stone. Pikachu and his friends say farewell to Elekid and the others and head back to their trainers. Meanwhile, Meowth tries to find his way to a campsite but ends up running afoul of Pikachu's mishaps and gives up.
Plot[]
Ash, Misty, Tracey and their Pokémon are resting by a tree. Misty's Togepi is awoken by a stream of flying Ledyba, causing it to chase after them and eventually stumble down a hill. Togepi's cries wake the other Pokémon as they attempt to chase Togepi. Togepi eventually rolls into Meowth who ended up getting lost on a camping trip, causing Meowth to stumble backwards while Togepi continues to roll forward. The two fall down a deep hole as the other Pokémon catch up, gazing down the dark hole the Pokémon fell into. The Pokémon then notice that Misty's Psyduck is running at them in an attempt to catch up, though it unintentionally runs into them, causing all of the Pokémon to fall through the hole.
The six Pokémon all fall before the swarm of Ledyba catches them, placing them on a set of leaves. As the Pokémon thank the Ledyba, they quickly fall through the leaves and are met with an Elekid who intimidatingly sparks electricity. Ash's Squirtle attempts to get defensive by putting on the Squirtle Squad sunglasses, though Ash's Pikachu quickly reasons with the Elekid. Due to the new Pokémon now being seen as friends, a plethora of Pokémon emerge from the forest and surround the newcomers. Meanwhile, Meowth is hanging from a branch by his backpack and screams for help, though this only angers a nearby Gyarados which attempts to attack him.
Pikachu explains to Elekid that they are looking for Togepi after it rolled down a hill. Elekid leads the Pokémon to a large tree with large nests. Inside one of the nests is an Exeggcute and Togepi. Pikachu and Bulbasaur attempt to retrieve Togepi, though the Exeggcute eggs retaliate due to them missing one of their eggs as they use Togepi as a substitute. The Pokémon decide to go searching for the missing egg before taking Togepi with them.
As the Pokémon go searching, they exit a cave into an oasis-like area and are greeted by dancing Bellossom which put on a show for them alongside other Pokémon. The Pokémon applaud the show, though Pikachu quickly realizes they must continue. They also come across a group of Clefairy in a cave which all use Metronome, causing the move Explosion to blast them out of the cave. The Pokémon safely land on bouncy lotus leaves as they use them as platforms to advance up a tree. Meowth hears Pikachu calling, but is surprised as Pikachu and Elekid fall onto Meowth, causing them to bounce off of a Snorlax and plunge into a lake. The three Pokémon emerge riding on a Gyarados as Meowth angrily stamps on Pikachu's head, arguing that he should ride Gyarados by himself. Pikachu quickly uses Thunderbolt, causing Meowth blast off and the Gyarados to fall back into the water.
The Pokémon return to the nest as a storm looms over the tree. Large gusts of wind attempt to blow away the nests as the Exeggcute become distressed. The group of Pokémon protect the nests as they are about to blow away with other Pokémon emerging from the tree to help. Lightning begins to strike the tree, breaking off branches that almost crush the nest-protecting Pokémon. Pikachu and Elekid both use Electric-type moves to combat the lightning, though a single strike gets past them and causes a fire to break out in the tree. Squirtle and Marill quickly put out the fire with Water Gun. As the Pokémon are distracted, the nest containing Togepi is blown away, though Bulbasaur quickly uses its vines to latch onto the nest. However, the strong winds pull Bulbasaur with the nest, causing the other Pokémon to form a chain and pull the nest back in. Togepi and Exeggcute are happy that they survived the storm as the clouds subside. A rainbow appears as a majestic Dragonair flies by.
Togepi happily returns to Pikachu as the Pokémon celebrate being able to tough through the storm together. A Chansey suddenly appears and reveals that it had the sixth Exeggcute egg with it all along, placing it with the other Exeggcute as they rejoice. As all of the Exeggcute are reunited, they all gather around a Leaf Stone and evolve into Exeggutor. The Pokémon are happy to see Exeggcute evolve as it dances around. The group of Pokémon then bid farewell to the Pokémon that helped them, returning to the tree where their Trainers were. Elsewhere, Meowth falls unconscious in a small pond, declaring that he never wants to go camping again.
