Heroes Unite! (Japanese: ポケモン! きみにあえてよかった!, Hepburn: Pokemon! Kimi ni Aete Yokatta!, trans. Pokémon! I'm Glad I Got to Meet You!) is the 45th episode of Pocket Monsters (2019 series), and Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
Synopsis[]
Now that Ash has won his battle against Leon and Goh has encountered Mew, our heroes have reunited. But Goh wants to become a more capable Trainer, so he contemplates going on his own journey, unsure of what Ash’s reaction might be. The two go camping with Chloe, and they all catch up and share memories of their lives with Pokémon. Suddenly, Ash declares that he wants to start a new journey with Pikachu, causing Goh to storm off in anger. After a heart-to-heart talk with Chloe, Ash meets back up with Goh, and all is peaceful again—but then Lugia appears! That means it’s time for a raid battle![1]
Episode plot[]
Ash, victorious in the Masters Eight tournament, returns to Professor Oak's Lab where his Pokémon greet him, happily embracing him for his win. Professor Oak recites a poem to commemorate his victory before Delia chimes in and anticipates that her son won't be back for a while, stating that she knows how he thinks. Delia hands him a boxed lunch and Oak asks him to send his regards to the others before he leaves, bidding farewell to his Pokémon who see him off.
Meanwhile at Cerise Laboratory, Goh greets his Pokémon and thanks them for allowing him to meet Mew, as he had gained a lot of experience from them. Chloe arrives and asks her father if Goh and Ash arrived, as they intend to go camping. Professor Cerise tells her that Goh is in the park while Ash hadn't arrived yet, so she goes off and interrupts Goh talking to his Pokémon. Goh doesn't mind and reveals to Chloe that he intends to go alone, as he felt over-reliant on Ash. Just then, Ash arrives.
Ash and Goh share a fist-bump before Chloe panics, realizing that they're about to miss the bus. They barely get on in time and arrive at a forest filled with many wild Pokémon as they begin their camping session. They then spot an Abra, which reminds Goh of his childhood as he had seen a wild Abra that seemingly served as a playmate and introduced him to Pokémon as he tried following it. Chloe asks Ash if he had a similar memory, who states that he would travel with all of his Pokémon and wanted to be friends with all of them.
As they walk by, they spot a tree full of Pecha Berries as a wild Poliwag appears and uses Hydro Pump to remove one. However, the berry falls on a wild Spearow that becomes angered at the disturbance. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on the Spearow, but more emerge from the tree, unhappy at the attack. The Poliwag flees into the bushes while the Spearow flock chases the three. Spotting a wild Slowpoke yawning, Chloe has Eevee use Copycat to yawn on the Spearow flock, lulling them to sleep.
Night falls and the three set up camp. As they eat, the Poliwag from before gives them several Pecha Berries as thanks before walking off. Chloe remarks on how Ash and Pikachu are alike, during which Ash reminisces about the Pokémon he met and had to release. She then asks Goh the same, who's reminded of his Cinderace when he met it as Scorbunny in Galar. As she remarks on how he's changed, Goh returns the remark, as she did not like Pokémon at first until meeting her Eevee. Ash then tells Goh and Chloe that he intends to go on another journey, causing Goh to become upset as he storms off and states that their friendship is over. Ash is left confused before Chloe explains what Goh had been thinking, so they set off to find him.
The forest begins raining while Ash and Chloe look for Goh. Chloe tries to call Goh, who ignores her calls. Cinderace takes his phone and runs off, causing Goh to chase after it. The two manage to reunite at a large lake where they witness a horde of Metapod evolve into Butterfree and fly off. Goh and Ash reconcile, arguing over who was going to leave the other first. Suddenly, Goh realizes that the conditions are just right for "it" to appear. As the wind picks up and thunder appears, whatever Goh was referring to is soon revealed to be Lugia, who appears to beckon the two boys into following it.
Ash and Goh chase after Lugia, the former asking the latter what he intends to do. Ash tells him that he intends to battle Lugia, much to his and Grookey's surprise. Goh then decides to capture it, with Ash following suit. They arrive at an opening where Lugia turns and roars. Goh calls out Inteleon while Ash calls Lucario as they prepare a Raid Battle against Lugia.
