Episode plot[]

At the Cerise Laboratory, Chloe is giving Yamper belly rubs when Chrysa, who is having lunch with Ren, remembers of how Chloe once she said she wanted to meet a Sylveon. Chloe confirms it's true, as Sylveon is the only Eevee Evolution she hadn't meet yet. Chrysa then tells her that she was just contacted by Kiley, the Vaporeon Trainer Chloe had met in the past, and he told her that Lilycove City is holding a Pokémon Contest where a Sylveon and its Trainer are favored to win. Chloe gets excited by this, her father approaches his daughter and asks her if she wants to go there, which she confirms. He then informs her that Ash and Goh are already going there as Goh wishes to capture an Altaria like Drasna's. Chloe and Eevee get more excited and are determined to go there.

Chloe and Eevee are already at Lilycove City and arrive at the Contest Hall, where they notice a crowd at the entrance. In the middle of the crowd is Lisia, a famous Contest Idol and her partner Pokémon, an Altaria nicknamed Ali. The people in the crowd are very excited to see her, Lisia then annouces she is looking for a Trainer to perform in the Contest. After looking around, she notices Chloe and Eevee and approaches them. With a filming team live broadcasting everything, Lisia asks Chloe if she has ever joined in a Contest, which she responds she never had. Lisia gets even more excited and decides to scout Chloe to participate in the Contest, much to the latter's shock and confusion. Meanwhile somewhere else in the city, Goh has just failed to capture a wild Altaria, much to his deception. He and Ash then spot a large screen broadcasting Lisia's talk with Chloe. Lisia explains to Chloe that Contest Spectaculars aren't just about strenght, but also about presenting the world with a whole new brilliant side of their Pokémon. She then gives her a Contest Pass and a Pokéblock Case to participate in the Contest. The broadcast ends and Lisia tells Chloe to do her best in the Constest and walks back to inside the Hall, leaving Chloe standing there confused with what just happened. But then Eevee notices something and runs off, so Chloe runs after her.

The two arrive somewhere with a beautiful view of the ocean where they encounter a Sylveon practicing using Fairy Wind and her Trainer, Serena. Serena immediately recognizes Chloe from Lisia's broadcast, much to her embarrassment. Serena introduces herself and her Sylveon, who is already bonding with Eevee. Chloe asks Serena if she is a contestant as well, when the latter confirms it, the former realizes Serena is the Sylveon Trainer Kiley mentioned, which the latter responds that she wants to work with Lisia to make the Contest a huge sucess. Chloe then says she came to Lilycove City to show her Sylveon performance to her Eevee, which catches Serena's curiosity.

While Sylveon and Eevee play around together, Serena and Chloe are sitting on a bench talking. Serena loves the idea of Chloe letting Eevee choose which form to involve to on her own instead of the Trainer choosing for her, and has never seen it happen before. Serena tells Chloe how Sylveon was an amazing dancer as an Eevee, how the two of them started to undestand each other's feeling while traveling together and how her Eevee eventually involved into a Sylveon. Serena asks Chloe if her Eevee has already decided, which she repplies she hasn't. Chloe then asks Serena why she decided to enter Pokémon Contests, also claiming she doesn't know what to do in the future, just like her Eevee. Serena claims used to be the same way, as she started her journey having no goals or dreams; but after watching an amazing Pokémon Performance, she realized this is what she wants to do: become a Pokémon Performer who inspires the audience with her talents, Serena also claims it's really to have a dream and go for it, even though sometimes things go wrong, when things go right it makes her happy.

Chloe is amazed at how inspiring Serena's speech when suddenly her Rotom Phone rings: it's Goh calling. Serena gives Chloe privacy to pick up her phone, Goh tells her how he and Ash saw the broadcast as well and that the two are going to the hall to watch her perfomance, then he ends the call abruptly, much to Chloe's annoyance. Serena asks Chloe what she will do, which the latter responds she doesn't and asks for her opinion. Serena advices that when it doubt, she should give stuff a try, because even if things go wrong she will learn something and nothing she could do is a waste of time. She also offers to help her get ready, which Chloe happily accepts, Eevee gets excited as well.

Meanwhile Ash, Goh, Pikachu and Grookey are running to get to the Hall in time when suddenly someone calls for Ash: it's Wallace, the Gym Leader of the Sootopolis City Gym, but Ash doesn't seem to recognize him, much to the former's annoyance. The boys are about to leave but Wallace stops Ash and recalls him of when May and Dawn participated in his Wallace Cup, and only then does Ash remember him. Wallace then claims he came to town because Lisia is in the contest, revealing she is his niece. Goh excuses them and tries to leave with Ash, but Wallce stops him again. He knows that Ahs is in the World Coronation Series and wishes to battle Ash, which he accepts immediately. Wallace then brags that he battled in the past the Champion of the Hoenn region Steven Stone, whom Ash recognizes right away (much to Wallace's annoyance again). Goh doesn't want to be late for the Contest but Ash and Wallace are determined to battle, much to his annoyance.

Meanwhile in the Contest Hall's dressing room, Serena helps Chloe choose a contest outfit for her performance, the latter then chooses one the Princess of Hoenn (May) had wore in the past, although Chloe thinks it might be too flashy Serena assures her it's perfect and tha Chloe she and Eevee will meet new versions of themselves they've never seen before once they get to the stage. To match Chloe's outfit, Serena gives Eevee her Sylveon's old head piece, which she wore in her first Showcase at Couriway Town, and Eevee happily accepts it. Chloe is still nervous about performing, but Serena reminds her of her advice from earlier: when in doubt, give stuff a try.

Later, Goh watches the opening of the Contest on his Rotom Phone while Ash and Wallace are batteling with Dragonite and Swampert. The Contest starts with the Normal Rank Performance round, Chloe watches from the backstage as the first performers do their routines. Both Chloe and Eevee are amazed by the performances, but Chloe is still worried if she can do it as well. Serena approaches Chloe and asks if she's nervous, which the latter confirms. Serena tells Chloe she and Sylveon were also nervous the first time they've performed, she then advices Chloe that a performer always has to come out with a smile. Chloe keeps thinking about what will happen if things go wrong, but Serena reminds her she is not doing this alone: Eevee will be doing this with her, and this calms Chloe down. The announcer calls Chloe for the next perfomance, Goh calls out Ash to watch but the latter and Wallace are too focused on their battle, now with Dracovish and Walrein battleling, much to Goh's annoyance once again.

Chloe appears onstage still a little nervous. Chrysa and Ren are watching as well and call Professor Cerise, who is in shock on seeing his daughter on TV. Chloe looks at the crowd unsure of what do to until Eevee calms her down and giver her confidence. Remembering all the Eevee Evolution forms they've met in the past, Chloe and Eevee are now determined to perform. Eevee uses Copycat to copy Sylveon's Fairy Wind, then uses Tackle to ride the wind, floating through the air. Serena and Sylveon watch from backstage impressed. Chloe and Eevee finish their routine shortly after, receiving a lot of applauses from the audience. Chrysa and Ren cheer for Chloe and Eevee as well, while Professor Cerise is very nervous but also very proud of his daughter. Goh is also happy for Chloe when he notices Ash and Wallace calling their Pokémon back to their Poké Balls, while they agree with each other that their battle was great. Goh is relieved they are done until Ash and Wallace bring Pikachu and Milotic for another battle, much to Goh's deception.

Then the Master Rank Performance round begins, with Serena being the first. She appears onstage with her Sylveon, her Pancham and her Delphox (which was her Braixen) while Chloe and Eevee watch them from backstage. Serena and her Pokémon begin their routine: Delphox uses Mystical Fire, Pancham uses Dark Pulse and Sylveon uses Swift. The three moves collide together, releasing many fire rings, dark rings and stars around the air. Delphox then uses Flamethrower to create a big ring of fire, Sylveon uses Quick Attack around the fire and Pancham uses Ice Punch to trap the fire ring inside a huge ice ring. For the big finish, Pancham uses Stone Edge to create a series of stone pillars around the stage which Delphox and Sylveon jump onto, then Delphox uses Flamthrower again and Sylveon uses Fairy Wind to control the flames into a circle, it then creates an explosion that destroys the Stone Edge pillars and the fire and ice rings in a beautiful way, releasing sparkling glitter around. The audience cheers wildly for Serena, Chloe and Eevee are both amazed by how incredible Serena and her Pokémon are.

The last performer of the Master Rank round is Lisia, who appears onstage with Ali, receiving loud cheers from the audience. They start their routine with Ali twirling aroung while using Mist, spreading a big mist around the stage. Then Lisia activates her Key Stone to Mega Evolve Ali. As a Mega Altaria, Ali uses Draco Meteor, making many sparkling purple comets fall down around stage. Meanwhile outside, Wallace calls his fainted Milotic back to its Poké Ball. Wallace is impressed and compliments Ash for how his victory. With the battle finally finished, Goh calls Ash to go, but Wallace stops Ash once again. He then gives Ash the Rain Badge, although Ash already has earned this Badge in the past and is not collecting Gym Badges anymore. Wallace also gives Ash his scarf, which is too big for him. Back inside the Contest Hall, all four Master Rank performers gather for the annoucement of the winner. Both Serena and Lisia tied in their points and are the two winners. Lisia hugs Serena and congratulates her, Serena congratulates her back as the crowd cheers loudly for them and Chloe and Eevee watch from backstage happy for their new friend. Back outside, Wallace is still talking, leaving Goh, Grookey and Pikachu exhausted from listening when suddenly Goh spots the same wild Altaria he failed to capture earlier flying high in the air. Goh hysterically runs after it, leaving Ash, Pikachu and Wallace standing confused.

Later at dawn, Serena, Sylveon, Chloe and Eevee are at the docks. Serena lets Eevee keep Sylveon's old head piece as a gift, much to hers and Chloe's gratitude. Serena asks Chloe how she liked the Contest, which the latter responds that both she and Eevee really did met brand-new versions of themselves and thanks Serena for everything, while Serena is happy that she could help Chloe just like her friends helped her on her journey. When Chloe asks her what she will do now, Serena reveals that after the Contest, Lisia invited her to team up and form an Idol unit, but she is still wondering if she will do it or not. Then Chloe reminds Serena of her own advice: when in doubt, give stuff a try. The boat honks as it will leave soon, leaving Chloe worried on why Ash and Goh haven't arrived yet. But she and Serena happily bid farewell to each other, promising to reunite in the future. Just as Chloe gets on the boat, Ash and Goh appear running and get on it too, passing by a suprised Serena. Ash then notices Serena, and the two happily reunite with each other, so does Sylveon and Pikachu. Chloe is suprised to discover that Ash and Serena know each other, only for him to explain that they've travelled together around Kalos. Then the boat starts taking off, but Ash and Serena manage to tell each other about their achievements and future goals, promising to cheer for each other and work their hardest to archieve their goals, bidding farewell to each other and Chloe. Serena continues to watch the boat moving away until the sun goes down. Then she and Sylveon leave the docks together, while Chloe and Eevee keep looking back as they leave Hoenn.

Mistakes[]

  • During the flashback, Serena's Eevee was depicted with the standard tail markings instead of the updated version to depict it being female. However, this could be because she was confirmed to be female long before the gender difference was implemented.
