The Gates of Warp! (Japanese: ディアルガ&パルキア！時空大異変！！, Hepburn: Dialga & Palkia! Jikuu dai Ihen!!, trans. Dialga & Palkia! The Space-Time Cataclysm!!) is the 41st episode of Pocket Monsters (2019 series), and Pokémon Journeys: The Series of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
Synopsis[]
When Dawn’s Piplup is taken through a mysterious portal by someone who looks just like her, she asks Ash to help, and Goh and Chloe come along. And when an unusually competent version of Team Rocket emerges from another portal and steals Lucario and Inteleon, Dawn and Goh chase them into a parallel world—a world without Pokémon! They meet the other Dawn, who explains that time in her world is running backward, causing Pokémon to forget moves, devolve, and even become Eggs. After doing some research with Sinnoh Champion Cynthia, Ash and Chloe arrive in the other world as well! Can they solve this mystery?[1]
Episode plot[]
In an unknown world, Dialga and Palkia appear, which leads to the two legendries clash and they start to fight each other. While the two clash against each other, pieces of energy created from the battle form gates that lead to different worlds. As more of the fighting happens, a familiar trio appears on a rock with armor equipped to them. Then, one of the trio begins to say that all Pokémon will belong to Team Rocket.
Somewhere in Sinnoh, Dawn warms up with her Pokémon for a contest training, as she tells them that they are training then she notices that her Piplup is not there with them and asks her Pokémon where he is. After Buneary points out to its Trainer where Piplup is, Dawn sees that her partner is sleeping on her bag then she tells him to wake up and that he needs to focus on the big event that's happening tomorrow. However, Piplup doesn't pay attention and acts sluggish as he appears to be tired and Dawn tells him that he needs to be a role model to her other Pokémon. Dawn even tells about how Piplup has been lazy these days. Piplup gets angry and storms off and Dawn runs after him. While looking for Piplup, Dawn notices that there is a gate and a girl appears beside it with her partner. Piplup notices the girl, and the girl sheds tears and she hugs him, then proceeds to take the Penguin Pokémon back home with her. Dawn tries to call for the girl but to no avail as the gate closes but not before seeing that they look alike. Dawn who is shocked about the current events screams Piplup's name and "Oh no".
At the Cerise Laboratory, Ash whom received a call and says he will be there. Goh asks what happened as Ash tells him that Dawn's Piplup has been kidnapped and that they will be there. Professor Cerise who asks that Dawn was in Sinnoh, the boys responded with "yes". The professor responds that he's been meaning to say something about this as he tells them that there have been reports of Pokémon disappearances in Sinnoh lately, which he shows the boys a screen of the disappearances. Hearing this, the boys decide to head out to investigate and Chloe decides to join Ash and Goh as she worried about Dawn, which her father accepts, then the three then head off to Sinnoh.
In Sinnoh, Ash, Goh and Chloe comfort Dawn, who is sitting a bench looking sad. Ash apologizes for keeping her waiting, which Dawn responds that he doesn't need to apologize. Goh comments that Dawn is not fine and Chloe gets that her friend is worried sick about her Piplup. While talking about Piplup's disappearances, Team Rocket comes in to steal Pikachu again but Ash sends out his Lucario to get their friend back while Goh sends his Inteleon to blast them off, only for a gate to open for another Team Rocket to come out of it and take Ash's Lucario and Goh's Inteleon. Ash, Chloe, Dawn and Goh go after them in an attempt to get them back, but Dawn and Goh were able to get to the gate before Ash and Chloe could.
After going through the gate, Dawn and Goh noticed that their friends aren't with them then sees some differences around them. Dawn suggests to go to her place as she and Goh do just that. However, after entering Dawn's home, they discover that there in another world as they noticed photos of another Dawn.
The other Dawn enters as Piplup jumps back to his Trainer. The other Dawn apologizes for taking her counterpart's Piplup away then explains what is happening in her world as the Pokémon are forgetting moves then de-evolving until they revert into eggs. After being told of everything, Goh believes that Pokémon have something to do with this as Dawn realizes that it is Dialga and Palkia. In the unknown world, Dialga and Palkia are being caught in the Red Chain with two rings around them.
Meanwhile, Ash and Chloe are wondering that their friends are in another world. Chloe wonders if there is a Pokémon that controls Space as Ash tells her that Palkia has that power. Hearing this, Chloe looks up information about Palkia on her Rotom phone. Wanting to get Palkia for help, Ash and Chloe go to the Canalave Library for information on how to find the Legendary Pokémon. While there, Ash reunites with Cynthia as he introduces her to Chloe and she becomes impressed to hear that she is the Sinnoh Champion and researches Pokémon ruins. After reading a book about Dialga, Palkia and Arceus, Ash, Chloe and Cynthia discuss the information they have gathered.
The Team Rocket B trio appear in another gate to take more Pokémon. Although, they ended up retreating thanks to Cynthia's efforts but Ash and Chloe follow them through the gate. After exiting the gate, Ash and Chloe realized that they are in the other world as they decided to go look for their friends. However, before going further, they encounter another Ash.
