Memories of a Warming Kindness! (Japanese: 恋はコダック, Hepburn: Koi wa Koduck, trans. Love Is Psyduck) is the 9th episode of Pocket Monsters (2019 series), and Pokémon Journeys: The Series of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
Synopsis[]
It’s a chilly, busy day in Vermilion City! Parker is taking Yamper to a sleepover, Goh wants to catch some Ice-type Pokémon, and Chrysa and Chloe end up having a girls’ night. After Chloe notices Chrysa’s collection of Psyduck goods, Chrysa reminisces about a time she felt like a failure—but a young man with a scarf-wearing Psyduck cheered her up, and she never forgot them.
The next day, Ash and Goh tell Chloe they met the same man and Psyduck, so Chloe insists on going out to look for them. The search is successful, and Chloe reunites an overjoyed Chrysa with the Psyduck who’s meant so much to her![1]
Episode plot[]
Chrysa is talking on the phone with her mother as she gets ready to go to Cerise Laboratory then hangs up on her and leaves. Chloe is walking to the lab and comments that Eevee energetic personality is keeping her warm. Also, Chloe wonders if there are any Pokémon that like the cold weather. Chloe greets Professor Cerise as he gets ready to go see some new research findings then Chrysa and Ren remind that he needs to get to the bus on time. Hearing this, Professor Cerise heads out and Chloe tells him that she'll see him later. Chloe asks Chrysa if Ash and Goh are here as she tells them that they're at the park. However, Ash and Goh come dashing out as Chloe asks them where are they going, and Goh answers that the weather forecast is supposed to snow as it will give him chance to catch some Ice-type Pokémon. Chloe asks Goh and Ash when are they coming back as they answer that they wouldn't return until they catch an Ice type, much to her annoyance.
Seeing this, Chrysa asks Chloe if she had plans with the boys but she tells her no then tells her about this morning events as she was getting ready for school then notices Parker chasing Yamper. Chloe asks why Parker is chasing Yamper as he tells her that he's going to a sleep over at Jinny's house and all their friends are bringing their family's Pokémon with them. Hearing this, Chloe asks Yamper to go with Parker and he reluctantly goes with him. Chloe talks with Talia as she tells her that she gonna be working late and wouldn't be able to have dinner for her but she understands and wishes her good luck. After explaining everything to Chrysa and Ren, Chloe tells them that she thought about having dinner with Ash and Goh but they point out that they wouldn't be back for a while. Walking into the lab, Chloe, Chrysa and Ren get startled by Ash's Gengar as it tries to scares them but Eevee kept imitating it then it leaves.
Chrysa asks Chloe if she gonna wait for Ash and Goh but she asks if she can watch her, which she accepts. While watching Chrysa work, Chloe and Eevee agree that she pretty cool for how hard she works. After finishing her work, Chrysa sees that Ash and Goh aren't back so Chloe thinks she'll get something to eat by herself. However, Chloe gets an offer by Chrysa to go to her house as she'll be eating by herself as well. Also, Chrysa suggests that she and Chloe have a girls night as she remembers that she doesn't have school the next day so she can stay over at her place. At first, Chloe was unsure because she can't braid her hair without Talia but Chrysa offer to do for her and teach her easy to do hair styles as well. Hearing this, Chloe accepts Chrysa's offer to stay at her place and she'll call Talia to let her know about it. Chrysa asks Ren if he can finish up, which he said yes too. Chloe tells Eevee that they are gonna have a sleepover at Chrysa's place, which excites her.
After getting something to eat, Chloe arrives at Chrysa's house alongside Eevee but became surprised how messy Chrysa's place is as she apologizes to her for that. Chrysa puts some of her stuff away then Chloe notices that she has a lot of Psyduck merchandise around her place and asks her that she really likes the Duck Pokémon, which she replies yes. Chrysa tells Chloe that Psyduck relaxes her. Chloe suggest to Chrysa that she should become a Psyduck Trainer but she tells that looking at them is more than enough of her and getting to eat their food. Meanwhile, Ash and Goh aren't having any luck in finding any Ice-type Pokémon as they decided to get something to eat, after their stomach growl for food.
Eevee is looking around but accidentally make a picture fall over and Chloe picks it up as she notices Chrysa with a Psyduck along with a man. Chrysa see that outside is snowing then hopes that Ash and Goh are alright in weather but Chloe isn't worry as she tells her that they'll be fine. Before getting ready to eat, Chloe wonders the man in the picture is Chrysa's boyfriend and decided to find out, which confuses Eevee. While eating, Chrysa comments how close Chloe and Eevee are. However, Chloe isn't sure on that but wants her and Eevee to have a stronger bond but doesn't know how to get there. Chrysa suggest that she should asks Ash and Goh for tips but she believes that they wouldn't be any help because of their personalities. Meanwhile, Ash and Goh have finished eating as a man next to them comments the food then notices a Psyduck with a scarf on as its Trainer tells the boys that it doesn't take it off. However, Psyduck gets a headache and unleashes a psychic wave, which causes everyone to float, until its Trainer calm it downed.
Ash, Goh and the man decide to have some more food. Chloe and Eevee are stuffed but Chrysa brings out some desserts as she happily accepts eating some. After sampling some desserts, Chloe and Chrysa get ready for bed. Before falling asleep, Chloe tells Chrysa that she's the most amazing woman she has ever seen for how hard she works on her research. However, Chrysa tells Chloe that she wasn't always the women she is today then tells her that she messed up so badly once then almost gave up being a researcher, which surprises her. Chrysa tells Chloe that she lost the data she had for a conference that was gonna make her a researcher as she became depressed. However, Chrysa was approach by a Psyduck that gave her its scarf to wear because it thought she look cold. Chrysa watches Psyduck and its Trainer make a snowman as she gave its scarf back and offer to help them, which they accepted. Through playing with them, Chrysa forgot her depression and it inspired her to keep trying to become a researcher. Also, Chrysa tells Chloe that the photo she has at her place cheers her up whenever she is feeling down along with the merchandise brings back memories of that day.
Chloe asks Chrysa about the man as she tells her that she hasn't seen him since that day, much to her surprise. However, Chrysa wonders how the man is doing. The next day, Chloe thanks Chrysa for having her at her house as she goes to work. Chloe sees Ash and Goh eating breakfast then asked them if they find any Ice-type Pokémon but they told her no. Ash and Goh tells Chloe that it got really cold so they decided to eat something to eat then head back to the lab. After hearing that the boys were sitting with the same man and Psyduck from Chrysa's story, Chloe asked Ash and Goh where he is but they don't know. Despite it, Ash and Goh offer to help Chloe find the man but didn't have any luck. However, Chloe has a scurf land on her as Psyduck and its Trainer arrive as she tells him that she alongside the boys know Chrysa. Chloe brings them to Chrysa as she happy to see them. However, Chloe became shocked that Chrysa is hugging the man's Psyduck and realized that the Duck Pokémon is one she wanted to see again.
Chrysa is all happy working as Ren notices how happy she is and tells him that she had a reunion with an old friend then thanks Chloe for making that happened. Although she was upset that she had the facts wrong, Chloe was happy that she did that for Chrysa.

- This episode is the first in which one of Professor Cerise's Lab Researchers plays a major role, and in this episode's case, Chrysa.
- Pikachu feels cold because Goh waits after several hours to catch the Pokémon, he got cold in Pikachu's Exciting Adventure!.
