A Pinch of This, a Pinch of That! (Japanese: ガラルの化石! がっちゃんこ!!, Hepburn: Galar no Kaseki! Gatchanko!!, trans. Galar's Fossils! Stick 'em Together!!) is the 2nd episode of Pocket Monsters (2019 series), and Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
Synopsis[]
Ash, Goh, and Chloe take a plane to Galar to search for rare fossils in the Wild Area. There, they meet two fossil researchers named Cara Liss and Bray Zenn. But when the researchers attempt to restore two Fossil Pokémon, they mix up the pieces and come up with two odd Pokémon: Dracovish and Arctozolt! Dracovish runs off with Ash in tow, but it calms down when it reaches water and is able to go swimming. When Ash returns with Dracovish, the researchers ask him and Goh if they would take care of the two Fossil Pokémon—and our heroes agree. Meanwhile, the bond between Chloe and Eevee grows stronger![1]
Episode plot[]
Chloe is running to the Cerise Laboratory, after her day at school. Yamper hears Chloe coming in and greets her. Then, Chloe brings her Eevee out of her PokéBall in order to play with Yamper. Chloe gives Eevee and Yamper affection, as she bully rubs the Puppy Pokémon, then her partner tries to imitated him, but failed, much to her Trainer curiosity. Professor Cerise walks in to greet Chloe as he asks her if she can come in for a moment, much to her confusion.
Upon walking in, Chloe sees Goh and Ash with their partners and asks what is going on. Then, she sees Curator that she and her friends met before on the video screen. He asks Ash, Chloe, and Goh for their help in investigating fossil Pokémon from the Galar Region, which the boys happily accepts the request. Chloe is unsure because of school but changes her mind when she sees that Eevee wants to go, then happily accepts going to Galar with the boys.
While on the plane, Ash and Pikachu are asleep, as Goh asked Chloe what she is looking at her phone, which she tells him that she has a report to do in order to make up for her absence at school. Chloe and Eevee are looking out the plane window, as they both marvel at the view. After landing and arriving in the Wild Area, Goh brings his Cinderace out as they and their friends look around. Pikachu and Eevee are playing until they run into a wild Boldore, as Chloe scans it with her Pokédex. Seeing Chloe and Eevee in trouble, Goh has Cinderace battle Boldore as they successfully capture it, with the girls thanking their friends for the rescue.
Upon arriving at the fossil site, Ash, Chloe and Goh get ready to look for fossils. However, they are startled by a Mudsdale whose Trainer arrives and apologizes for scaring them as he didn't notice them there. The man introduces himself as Bray Zenn, who happens to be a researcher, then shows Ash, Chloe and Goh what he has dug up so far, which they find amazing. After Bray Zenn's fellow researcher Cara Liss arrives, they dig up the fossils and put them together. The researchers tell the heroes their prediction that one will be restored as an Arctovish while the other will be a Dracozolt. Then, they explain about the machine they brought in order to restore the fossils.
After putting the fossils into the machine, they work together on making curry while they wait for the fossil Pokémon to be restored. However, after seeing that Cara Liss forgot the main ingredient for the curry, Bray Zenn improvises by using Chloe's whipped cream instead as the main ingredient, which they all find delicious despite earlier doubts. Once they are done eating, the two scientists hear their machines go off as they realize that the restoration is complete. After pressing a button on the machine, the two Pokémon come out as everyone watches in excitement. However, the two fossil Pokémon were restored as Dracovish and Arctozolt instead of the other two that the scientists predicted. Despite this, Ash greets Dracovish but it tries bite his head, which causes him and Pikachu to freak out. Ash had Pikachu attack Dracovish with Electroweb but it breaks through and uses Water Gun. However, due to Pikachu dogging the attack, Dracovish's Water Gun hits Arctozolt instead, which causes it to get upset. Arctozolt uses Powder Snow around it, freezing the ground and causing Dracovish to run off with Ash and Pikachu on its back. Arctozolt then freezes Bray Zenn and Cara Liss. Goh has Cinderace use Pyro Ball to thaw the two out, then battles Arctozolt in order to calm it down.
Meanwhile, Ash and Pikachu are still on Dracovish's back, while Goh brings out his newly caught Boldore in order to calm Arctozolt down. Ash, Pikachu and Dracovish keep going until they end up in a river. Goh wonders why Arctozolt isn't moving until the scientists tell him that its preparing for a Charge attack then executes the move. After being in the water, Dracovish calms down, and Ash decides to go exploring, but his new friend wants to head back to the fossil site. While battling, Goh is impressed with Arctozolt's courage, but when Ash, Pikachu and Dracovish return, they collide with each other, then Chloe asks the boys if they're okay, which they tell her that they're fine. Ash checks Dracovish for any injuries, but it just nibbles on his head in affection, showing that its okay, while Goh sees that Arctozolt calmed down.
Seeing that the two fossil Pokémon have taken an interest in Ash and Goh, the two scientists offer to let them keep them. The boys ask if they're okay with that, and they assure them it's fine because they have all the data they need on the two fossil Pokémon. Goh asks Arctozolt if it wants to go with him, which it happily accepts. Ash tells Dracovish that they can be friends, to which it not only said it agrees to but also shows an interest of going with him. Ash and Goh each bring out a Poké Ball to catch their new friends. Chloe and Eevee watch in amazement that their friends got new members on their teams.
After returning to Kanto, Ash and Goh show Curator their new Pokémon friends, as Arctozolt is interacting with its new friends and Yamper while Dracovish is hanging out with some of Goh's Water-type Pokémon. Before hanging up, Curator thanks Ash and Goh for their report. Professor Cerise asks Chloe if she had fun, which she says yes to, then heads back home to do her report for school. At home, Chloe is writing as Eevee is trying to stay awake but falls asleep as she said good night to her partner then continues writing
