Getting More Than You Battled For! (Japanese: バトル&ゲット! ミュウツーの復活, Hepburn: Battle & Get! Mewtwo no Fukkatsu, trans. Battling & Getting! Revival of Mewtwo) is the 46th episode of Pocket Monsters (2019 series), and Pokémon Journeys: The Series of Pokémon Journeys: The Series.
Synopsis[]
After learning that a signal thought to come from Mew was detected on a distant island, Ash and Goh set off to investigate. There they find a forest filled with wild Pokémon, including a group of Pokémon who are inexplicably afraid. They follow the Pokémon—and to their surprise, Mewtwo appears! They share their respective goals with Mewtwo, and it agrees to a battle, but its sheer power is overwhelming. After being defeated, Ash and Goh realize that Mewtwo has been protecting Pokémon who were mistreated by humans. Mewtwo and the Pokémon take their leave, and Ash and Goh find themselves in total awe of all they’ve experienced![1]
Episode plot[]
At Cerise Laboratory, Ash and Goh are being informed by Professor Cerise that a certain area has the same frequency as Mew. Thinking its Mew, Ash and Goh decides to investigate while Chloe listens on as she knows that her close friend has been dreaming of the catching the Mythical Pokémon ever since they were kids. However, due to listing to Professor Cerise lecture and information about the Pokémon world, Chloe realized that she gonna be late for school than left. Through the information from Professor Cerise, Ash and Goh head off for Cero Island in order to search for Mew. After arriving at the Cero Island, Ash and Goh start looking for it.
While looking for Mew, Ash and Goh ran into various obstacles, as Goh also catches some Pokémon as well. However, after falling into a river, Ash and Goh were heading into a waterfall but woke up finding themselves in a certain area of the island. Ash and Goh encounter various Pokémon but they become frighten off them. While looking around, Ash and Goh encounter Mewtwo. However, little does Goh know, Ash is familiar with this Mewtwo as he doesn't say much about it but its name to his friend, because of the promise he once made to it. Ash asks Mewtwo if it was the one who saved him and Goh, which it replied yes to. Although it sees that Ash is keeping his word to it, Mewtwo asks him and Goh why they have come to Cero Island as they answer that their here looking for Mew, much to its surprise.
After realizing that Professor Cerise reading were on Mewtwo instead of Mew, Ash and Goh tell the Legendary Pokémon their goals along with their dreams. Wanting to continue pursing their goals, Ash and Goh asked Mewtwo to battle them in order to fulfill their dreams, which it accept. Ash choose Pikachu while Goh brings out Cinderace in order to battle Mewtwo. However, during the battle, Pikachu gotten beaten by Mewtwo as Ash went to check on him then brings out Lucario to battle in his place. Seeing their Pokémon down, Mewtwo asked if Ash and Goh are done with their battle but they tell no as they refuse to give up, which surprises the Legendary Pokémon. Although they were able to continue to hold their own against the Legendary Pokémon, Lucario and Cinderace were both defeated by Mewtwo when it hit them along with their Trainers with a Shadow Ball attack.
Despite losing to the Legendary Pokémon, the wild Pokémon that Mewtwo is looking after starts to trust Ash and Goh as they let them interact with them, after they saw how hard they battled along with caring about Pokémon. Impressed, Mewtwo tells Ash and Goh that their passion along with their battle brought it joy. Before departing with its fellow Pokémon, Mewtwo tells Ash and Goh that their journeys are only just beginning then a bright light surrounded them. After being surrounded by the light, Ash, Goh and their Pokémon discover that their back at Cerise Laboratory.
Through this experience, Ash and Goh hope to see Mewtwo again one day. Also, Ash and Goh agree that the future is in both their hands then hear Yamper barking as Chloe sees that her friends have returned as they greet her. Professor Cerise, Chrysa and Ren also come outside as they see that Ash and Goh are back from their adventure then they all head inside. However, little did Ash and Goh know, Mew is flying past them as it continues roaming around.
