Episode plot[]

Team Rocket is in their hideout, bored by the lack of events. Jessie wonders if they have received orders from Giovanni, but Meowth states that they haven't received any for a long time. James suggests that they stay productive and train, which gets Jessie excited. Suddenly, their doorbell rings, and Pelipper appears with the Rocket Prize Master. Jessie props Meowth's coin onto the machine as it dispenses two capsules which contain Magikarp and Slowking. James reads the information for the Pokémon on a card, suddenly becoming surprised and stating that the episode will be a double-feature.

Splash, Dash, and Smash for the Crown!

Ash and Goh are watching an advertisement for the tenth annual Magikarp High Jump Competition. Goh plans on participating in the competition using his Magikarp to beat the ninth time champion Kasukarp and his own Magikarp Shinegoldie. He sends out his Magikarp, revealing that it has grown fat during its time at Cerise Laboratory. However, Goh plans on training it using a bodybuilding video made by Kasukarp. Goh motivates his Magikarp by showing it the strength of Shinegoldie, getting it fired up to train. Ash and Pikachu also join in on the training while Raboot looks over at them unamused. After a training montage, Magikarp and the others are shown to have grown fit from the training, ready to partake in the competition.

Ash, Goh, and their Pokémon are at the Magikarp High Jump Competition semifinals with Goh going up against Magikarpenter, the previous competition's runner-up. Both of their Magikarp use Splash and are sent flying into the sky. Goh comes out on top, having his Magikarp flop 21.02 meters into the air which breaks his own personal record, allowing him to go into the competition's finals. Ash and Goh watch the second semifinals match as Kasukarp easily beats the opposing Magikarp as Shinegoldie flops higher than it.

The Magikarp High Jump Competition finals begin with Goh and Kasukarp preparing to start. Goh is confident he will win, but Kasukarp reveals that Shinegoldie has limited itself to perform a more exciting show and is willing to unleash its full power during the final match in order to win. Goh, still confident that he will win, reveals that his own Magikarp has been wearing weights on its dorsal fin to weigh it down much to the amazement of the crowd and announcer. Two Machamp struggle to carry away one of the weight, eventually injuring one of the Machamp's lower back.

Magikarp jumping into space!

Goh and Kasukarp are prepared for the final match, each of their Magikarp glowings with power as they prepare to jump. Kasukarp orders his Magikarp to use Splash, sending it high up into the air. However, Goh's Magikarp hasn't jumped yet, as it is still concentrating power to jump higher. Glowing white with power, Goh commands his Magikarp to use Splash, sending it past Shinegoldie and into space. Shinegoldie comes tumbling down, dazed by the power of Goh's Magikarp. Kasukarp falls in defeat, however, everyone begins to realize that Goh's Magikarp hasn't come down yet. The judges rule that returning to the ground is necessary for a match to be completed, and due to Goh's Magikarp not returning, he is eliminated and Kasukarp is declared the winner. Saddened by the defeat and loss of his Magikarp, Ash reads Goh's script lines to the end of the episode, which angers Goh.

Slowking's Crowning!

Ash and Goh arrive at Slowpoke Island where they see lots of Slowpoke, just as they have been informed. Goh gets information from his Pokédex about Slowpoke, learning that their tails fall off and that they don't seem to mind when it happens. Ash sits down to eat cup noodles which annoys Goh, stating that he should at least appreciate Slowpoke Island after they arrived on it. Goh wonders which of the Slowpoke on the island he should catch before a Slowking appears who is also eating noodles from a bowl. Goh uses his Pokédex learning about Slowpoke's evolution into Slowbro and Slowking and also learning that Slowking possess high intelligence. Amazed by this, Goh throws a Poké Ball at the Slowking, only for it to use Psychic and return the Poké Ball to Goh. Slowking then notices the cup noodles Ash is holding with Ash offering to share. Slowking uses Psychic to levitate the noodles out of the cup and into its mouth. Amazed by the taste, Slowking swaps Ash's cup and its Shellder crown with its psychic abilities, placing the crown on Ash's head.

Goh, Pikachu, and Raboot are surprised by Slowking suddenly placing the crown on Ash's head. When Goh asks if Ash is okay, Ash begins to speak in an accent and claims to be the Slowpoke Master. Goh realizes that the Shellder on his head is the source of this new personality and tries to grab it off of his head, but Ash quickly moves out of the way. Goh continues to try and knock the Shellder off of Ash's head, even ordering Raboot to use Double Kick and Pikachu tp use Thunderbolt, but Ash simply dodges all of the attempts to knock off the crown.

Accepting the Slowpoke as his family, Ash realizes that Goh should join him. He snaps his fingers, prompting a Slowpoke to arrive with a Shellder atop its head. Ash grabs the Shellder and offers it to Goh in order to turn him into a Slowbro. Frightened by the offer, Goh then realizes that Raboot is behind Ash, ordering it to use Double Kick to knock off the Shellder crown. The attack is successful, sending the crown high into the air and reverting Ash back to normal. Suddenly, the crown falls onto Goh's head, making him act the same as Ash and claiming to catch all of the Slowpoke on the island. Raboot kicks the crown once again, sending into the air and making it land on Pikachu. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to send the crown flying before it falls onto Raboot, making Raboot spin in the air. The Shellder crown then proceeds to fly off and land between the four, going in a cycle as Slowking and the Slowpoke of the island observe.

Suddenly, Goh's Magikarp flies down from space from the previous segment, slamming into the island and stopping the cycle as the Shellder crown returns to Slowking and the noodle cup returns to Ash. Ash and Goh are surprised to see Magikarp, now stuck on the top of Slowking's crown.

Back at Team Rocket's base, the four of them are still bored with James again suggesting they train. The doorbell rings yet again and James goes to the door, but instead of Pelipper, at the door is Kasukarp. Without saying a word, James closes the door on Kasukarp.
