Synopsis[]

Liko, Roy, and Friede have reached Galar Mine, where they hope to find the black Rayquaza. The other wild Pokémon inside the mine seem nervous about something, but the Trainers press on until they reach a series of tunnels. After getting separated, the group reunites just in time to face off against Amethio, Zirc, and Onia—as well as a furious Galarian Moltres who's holding an Ancient Poké Ball! As Friede and Charizard battle Amethio, Liko, Roy, and Captain Pikachu try to hold off Moltres… But why is it so angry?[2]

Episode plot[]

The episode starts with a recap of the previous, where Liko's team hide into a cabin during a heavy thunderstorm, and find a Hatenna in the cabin, bringing it back to the Brave Olivine, and then catching it the following day, forming a new friendship. The team head toward the entrance to Galar Mine, identified by train tracks leading to a tunnel. Hatenna becomes frightened again, causing the team to wonder why.

Meanwhile, Dot is creating a new video, becoming bored of it after finding the process of writing food reviews 'a pain'. At the dinner table, Murdock arrives carrying a tray of snacks, while Orla gawks about a gear and a spring, the former which she brought from Motostoke. Mollie gets an update from her phone, displaying Liko with her two new Pokémon. Orla hands the tea over to Murdock, who splutters it out, assuming it was coffee, causing the others to laugh. Ludlow talks about assumptions before fishing out a boot. His Quagsire applauds him.

In the Mines, a Carkol approaches and passes them along a track. A Drilbur pops out in-front of Sprigatito, frightening it. Fuecoco becomes interested by another Pokémon's trail, so much that he hits a wall. A Diglett pops up and down, causing Fuecoco to become flustered. Further down the cave, the Trainers spark an interest in the different-colored lights. While Friede does an explanation, Roy's and Liko's Pokémon get distracted by a Pokémon's trail crossing the mine, and go after it, with their trainers coming with them. Friede loses them. Liko picks up Sprigatito after playing with a wild Drilbur, while Roy comforts his wounded Fuecoco. They suddenly notice they're in the middle of the cave with several different tunnels. Friede and his Pokémon starts calling for his Trainers, until Liko calls on his phone, unable to give away useful information. Captain Pikachu recommends that Friede and Charizard split up, while Liko and Roy stay there. Suddenly, Roy overhears a familiar noise and runs into the tunnel; Fuecoco catching up to its trainer, along with Liko and Sprigatito. A short moment later, Friede and Charizard arrive where Liko & Roy were, unable to find them.

Meanwhile, the Explorers already walk inside, discussing the best approach to capturing Rayquaza. With Liko following him, Roy wanders to various parts of the cave, calling out for Rayquaza. Soon, Sprigatito encounters a Woobat, causing both to shriek in panic and the Woobat to fly away. Sprigatito then notices something deep in the hollow. Roy and Liko come with, noticing three Unovan Pokémon hiding in the dead-end scared, with Liko attempting to reassure them. She gives the Pokémon food cooked by Murdock, which makes them feel better and encourages them to taste the horde of food laid out to them. Roy commends Liko for her idea. Hatenna joins in to taste the food, delighted. Suddenly, everyone overhears a roaring sound, frightening the three Pokémon and forcing them back into the hollow. Woobat communicates with Liko. Liko follows the Pokémon, eventually leading to a group of exhausted Workers and their Pokémon. After Liko and Roy talk to one of the workers, he coughs black smoke.

Meanwhile, Cap continues calling, but gets himself lost. Meanwhile, the Workers and their Pokémon are rescued via cart back to the Mine's entrance, so Roy and Liko carry on their quest to find Friede. While the Professor studies a wall with gashes, Liko and Roy encounter Zirc and Onia, while Amethio meets up with Friede, deploying his Ceruledge and initiating a battle with Friede in the mines, which Friede accepts. Zirc and Onia notice Liko's pendant and battle them straight away. As Onia's Golduck goes to Scratch Sprigatito, it is intercepted by Cap and his Thunder Punch. Golduck almost falls into the abyss. They overhear a roar once again, which coincides with Liko's Pendant glowing and the cave starting to shake. Suddenly, the Pokémon reveals itself to be a Galarian Moltres.

Despite overhearing the Legendary Pokémon's roar, Amethio carries on his battle against Friede. Roy's Pokédex comes up with an error message, until Liko notices an Ancient Pokéball attached to its wing. Moltres starts attacking, taking out the Explorers' Pokémon and forcing their members to return them and retreat. The Moltres uses another move, which tires Cap, Roy, Liko, Sprigatito and Fuecoco, puffing black smoke. The Moltres then swoops down to attack Cap, who dodges, and then Sprigatito, in which Cap takes the hit for her. It then delivers an Air Slash and knocks out Cap. Meanwhile, the battle between Friede and Amethio continues, during which Amethio reveals Ceruledge's Ability in Weak Armor. Roy and Fuecoco soon recover from their strain, with former calling a Flamethrower, but the Legendary intercepts by generating a Hurricane, which blows Fuecoco up in the air. Pikachu recovers too and jumps in the middle of the cyclone to save its ally. He tosses Fuecoco back to his Trainer who catches it, and checks to see if he's OK. Liko notices Roy in danger of another Moltres move, but Cap steps in-front of them and tries to intercept Air Slash with Thunder Punch, but gets knocked down. As Moltres roars again, Hatenna starts crying, which Liko notices. Moltres roars again and uses Fiery Wrath; this time rocks from the cave start falling down. Liko and Sprigatito recover from their strain, with the former picking Pikachu up, demanding that they should leave the cave. Roy, still determined about the Ancient Pokéball, soon agrees, picks up Pikachu's Cap and pushes the cart together with Liko as they travel back. Rocks continue falling, covering the entire part of the cave.

During their return, Liko and Roy check on a heavily-wounded Captain Pikachu, but a crash rocks them. The Moltres is now seen chasing after the duo. Fuecoco bravely steps to the rear of the cart, appearing to take on the Legendary to Liko's surprise, and uses Flamethrower to increase the cart's speed. The battle between Charizard and Ceruledge briefly continues before rocks start falling down around their area, caused by the Moltres hitting the walls during their chase against Cap, Liko and Roy's cart. They all make it to Friede's area, forcing Friede to turn his Pokémon's attention to the rampant Moltres. Friede decides to take on the Moltres, requesting Liko and Roy to stay in their cart and look after Cap. The tunnel breaks down and collapses, losing Roy and Liko's connection to Friede, and causing them to be concerned about their professor.
