Episode plot[]
At night, Roy sneaks on board the Brave Olivine. His mysterious Poke Ball starts glowing with Liko's pendant again. However, as Roy boards the ship, Captain Pikachu sneaks up and shocks him, the commotion waking up Liko. She, along with the other Rising Volt Tacklers, go outside to find Roy restrained by Captain Pikachu. Friede and Liko introduce Roy to the others as someone they ran into during their time on the island. Roy tells Liko that he came here to see "that face", which Liko is a bit nervous to think that it's her, but it's actually Fuecoco Roy wants to see. The Volt Tacklers tell Roy that he can't just sneak on board their home, and he apologizes. Roy tells them that he really wants to spend more time with Fuecoco, eating berries with it, singing and practicing with it. Liko understands from this that Roy has grown attached to Fuecoco and wants to be its partner, but Friede thinks that it's not enough to just become partners with a Pokémon. He asks Roy about to rethink if the Fuecoco wants the same; their feelings have to be in sync as well. He proposes that Roy stays the night.
Liko and Roy start looking for Fuecoco. First they search the kitchen, in which Roy tries to sing for Fuecoco to appear. Liko's sprigatito finds the song weird. Next they head to the observation deck, where Noctowl scares Roy when he mistakes him for Fuecoco. Liko sits under the stars with Roy, who wonders what Fuecoco is thinking of him. Liko reassures him, stating that she was the same with Sprigatito. With that, Roy sings Fuecoco's song again, with Liko telling him that he's ruining the mood.
The next morning, Roy slept great while Orla is groggy, having had trouble all night with the patches in the airship. Roy offers to get his Grandpa and the island's Pokémon to lend a hand. Roy takes Liko and Friede to his grandpa's house, and Friede is shocked to know that Roy's grandpa is also the village elder. Back on the ship, Fuecoco wakes up and immediately starts looking for Roy after hearing from Mollie that he left berries for him, jumping off the ship to go searching. The elder is mad with Roy for sneaking onto the Brave Olivine, but soon gets everyone food and drinks. Friede states that he might just look angry. A group of people and their Pokémon come over to greet the elder and join the group. Village elder asks them to stay and have lunch. Friede wanted to fix the ship, but after seeing Liko enjoy seeing new pokemons he agrees to stay. Fuecoco continues looking for Roy, heading to his secret base before finding an Oran Berry. After a little while Fuecoco is feeling disappointed that he wasn't able to find Roy before tripping and dropping the Oran Berry into the water. Fuecoco then spots the Explorers' submarine in the distance.
Liko happily watches Sprigatito and a female Nidoran playing together. She finds it fascinating that island's people get along with its Pokemon without having to catch them, observing Roy and a Psyduck getting along too. Meanwhile, Zirc reports back to the other Explorers that the Brave Olivine broke down. He and Onia suggest that they seize the ship, but Amethio has them focus on the real target: Liko and her pendant. He has the two draw the Rising Volt Tacklers' attention which he looks for Liko, sending out his Corviknight and going with them. Fuecoco heads off to warn his friends about the Explorers. Back at the village, Roy wants to get closer to Fuecoco. Liko realizes that once they depart, Roy won't be able to see Fuecoco anymore. She thinks about what she can do about it. Roy notices Fuecoco running by, who warns him about the Explorers. Roy states that he has a bad feeling about this and Friede goes back to the ship, leaving the elder in charge of the kids.
The other Rising Volt Tacklers are taking some down time when Captain Pikachu points to the Explorers approaching and they all rush to get off the ship. Roy wipes Fuecoco's face of dirt and Fuecoco starts fawning over him. The elder points to Amethio's Corviknight in the distance. Onia and Zirc send out Rhydon and Golduck to battle against Murdock's Rockruff and Orla's Metagross. After a bit of teasing from Friede, Amethio sends his Corviknight to take on Friede's Charizard. Liko tells Roy about how the Explorers keep coming after her pendant. Liko worries that it will be her fault if this goes on, resolving to do something about it. Metagross is in bad shape while Rockruff uses Rock Tomb on Rhydon, who breaks through and retaliates with Rock Blast, a group of Krabby getting caught in the crossfire. Roy asks the forest Pokémon for help, feeling a bit overwhelmed and afraid for the place Fuecoco calls home. Liko starts trembling too, but Sprigatito places its paws on her hands to reassure her. Likewise, Fuecoco offers to fight by Roy's side, greatly exciting him as the other Pokémon land their support. When Onia finds them, Liko asks Roy and the Pokemon to leave Onia to her. After seeing Sprigatito glaring at her, Onia begrudgingly declares that they are now enemies, with Liko still refusing to give up her pendant.
Mollie comes out with Chancy and takes over for Orla and Murdock as Roy and the forest Pokémon arrive. Friede is glad they could make it, and Amethio tells him to focus on their battle, Corviknight uses Hurricane on Charizard. Roy has the Pokémon use String Shot to patch up the ship. Mollie commands Chancy to use Pound, which Rhydon dodges. Rhydon uses Rock Blast, which hits both Chancy and Fuecoco. Amethio's Corviknight uses Air Slash, and Charizard repels it with wind from it's swiping tail. Roy notices how much Fuecoco looks up to Friede's Charizard. Roy and Fuecoco take on Rhydon themselves, but when Roy calls for Ember, Fuecoco has trouble using it, and Friede tells them to run. Amethio, annoyed with Friede not focusing on their battle, commands Corviknight to use Hurricane. Fuecoco is still having trouble pulling off Ember, when Liko arrives, having defeated Onia and her Golduck. She tells Roy that he has to let Fuecoco know what he feels. Roy then starts singing to Fuecoco, who starts singing along too. After a little bit of this, Roy commands Fuecoco to use Ember, and Fuecoco shoots a huge fireball, which overpowers Zirc's Rhydon. Liko is a bit confused as to how song could help them connect, but quickly smiles at Sprigatito with the thought that they can express feelings with the song. Amethio then flies Corviknight over to the kids, kicking up a tornado of wind and sand before diving down towards Liko with talons out.
