Oak's Letter is a Key Item introduced in Generation IV.
Effect[]
Oak's Letter is one of four event items pertaining the to Sinnoh region, alongside the Member Card, the Azure Flute and the Secret Key. In Pokémon Platinum Version and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, Oak's Letter allows the player to access the Seabreak Path of Route 224, leading them to the Flower Paradise where Shaymin can be encountered.

Trivia[]
- Additional methods to obtaining Oak's Letter included the 11th movie event in Japan, a giveaway at Toys "R" Us stores, and at some GAME stores in the UK and Denmark to celebrate the release of Pokémon Platinum Version.
- Players have used cheating devices to bypass this restriction by either triggering the event or using a "walk through anything" cheat to walk across the water to the Flower Paradise.
- When Shaymin is successfully captured through this event, it is listed as having a Fateful Encounter despite being caught in the wild. This is due to the fact that only a Fateful Encounter Shaymin can transform into Sky Forme.
- Oak's Letter was programmed into Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version despite never being officially distributed in those games. While the events were accessible using a cheating device, those games did not apply the Fateful Encounter tag to specific Pokémon, preventing Shaymin from transforming into Sky Forme.
- When the Oak's Letter event is activated, Marley has different dialogue when the player speaks to her.
