This Slaking is a Normal-type Pokémon owned by Norman.

Biography[]

Ruby and Sapphire series[]

Slaking lived in Norman's greenhouse when it wasn't being used in battle. The heroes, along with Kenny, visited Slaking. Kenny mentioned Norman had a lot of trouble training Slaking, but it paid off, being very powerful during Gym matches. Once Team Rocket tried to steal Norman's Pokémon, they accidentally triggered the fireworks Norman was to use for his wife. This infuriated Norman, whose Slaking used defeated Team Rocket, sending them blasting off with a devastating Focus Punch.[1]

For his final Pokémon, Norman sent Slaking against Ash's Grovyle. Grovyle used Bullet Seed, which Slaking stopped by using its own hands. Grovyle attempted to use Leaf Blade, but Slaking stopped the attack and tossed Grovyle away. Slaking attempted to use Focus Punch, but Grovyle launched Bullet Seed on Slaking's face. While Slaking was stopped, the attack infuriated it and emitted an Earthquake. Grovyle jumped and used Pound, though Slaking grabbed Grovyle by its leaf and tossed it away, onto the ceiling. Eventually, Slaking sent Grovyle flying with a powerful Hyper Beam, who tried to stop the attack with Bullet Seed. Norman advised Ash and Grovyle to give up, since Grovyle could be in trouble. Exhausted but determined to keep going, Grovyle picked itself up and activated its Overgrow ability. Slaking used Earthquake, but Grovyle The two Pokémon clashed with Focus Punch and Leaf Blade. After the attacks, Grovyle managed to defeat Slaking, since Leaf Blade was powered up with Overgrow. Slaking fell down, causing Norman to lose the Gym match.[2]

While fishing out for a Whiscash, Nero, who stole his Badge Case, Ash recalled battling Norman and his Slaking.[3]

Before arriving to Slateport City for May's Grand Festival, she and Ash remembered their past adventures so far. Ash recalled facing Norman and his Slaking. Grovyle went from the ceiling to use Bullet Seed, but got hit by Slaking's Hyper Beam. Grovyle, however, stood up and with its Overgrow ability activated, it exchanged Leaf Blade attack with Slaking's Focus Punch. Slaking was defeated and Ash won the battle.[4] Norman and his Pokémon, including Slaking, watched the TV broadcast of May's Grand Festival battle in his Gym.[5]

Diamond and Pearl series[]

When May went to Sinnoh, Max remained behind to help his father in tending to his Pokémon, Slaking.[6] When May was competing in the Wallace Cup, Max was seen watching her from the television at home while grooming Slaking.[7]
