Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (abbreviated as WFC) was a service run by Nintendo that allowed select Nintendo DS and Wii games to connect online, usually to play with other people from around the world. The first Pokémon games that utilized the service was Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, for the Nintendo DS. Pokémon Battle Revolution was the first Wii game overall to utilize the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. At least one crossover game with Pokémon, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, also utilized the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was eventually terminated, on May 20, 2014. The Nintendo 3DS and Wii U both had their own successor service, Nintendo Network, which itself had also been discontinued, on April 8, 2024.
