Nintendo is a video game and console company based in Kyoto, Japan, as well as other divisions located within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Europe. The company was originally founded on 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi as a playing card game manufacturer. The company is credited as the creators of popular franchises including Mario, Legend of Zelda and even Pokémon. The company also manufactured consoles and handhelds including, the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and Switch.

Its former president was Satoru Iwata until his confirmed death in July 11, 2015. Nintendo announced that Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto would take over as interns until a replacement CEO is found. The CEO of Nintendo is now Tatsumi Kimishima as of September 16, 2015.
