For other variants of Drednaw belonging to Nessa, see Nessa's Drednaw.

This Drednaw is a water/rock-type Pokémon owned by Nessa.

Biography[]

During her Gym Battle against Henry Sword, when her Toxapex was defeated, Nessa sent Drednaw out. Henry Sword Sword believed this would be easy, since he clearly had the type advantage, but Nessa Dynamaxed her Pokémon into Gigantamax Drednaw.[1] As Marvin pondered about Gigantamax Drednaw's strength, it used Max Strike, which caused tremors for Twiggy to be knocked down. Twiggy was pinned down, and it used a Razor Leaf to blow Gigantamax Drednaw away a bit, so it could release itself. Next, Gigantamax Drednaw used G-Max Stonesurge: the attack swept Twiggy away, and cornered it with sharp stones, so it could not move. As switching a Pokémon would only damage it from this move, in response, Henry Sword Sword Sword used his Dynamax Band to enlarge Twiggy to its Dynamax Form.

Twiggy's speed allowed it to bypass Gigantamax Drednaw's attack and hit it, but the latter's hard shell prevented damage. To finish the battle, Nessa had Drednaw attack by biting, to which Twiggy evaded the attack. However, Drednaw blasted water to disarm Twiggy from one of its sticks, then extended its neck to reach Twiggy and attack it. Twiggy used one of its sticks to block its attacks, while the other disarmed stick was flung: it flew past Nessa and hit Drednaw, who fainted from the blow, thus making Henry Sword the victor. Later, Nessa had Drednaw battle Casey, and was astonished when her Scorbunny evolved into a Raboot and defeated her Gigantamax Drednaw. It made Nessa postpone all of her future battles, to let Drednaw recover first.[2]

Henry Sword later compared Nessa's Drednaw with Opal's Alcremie, noting that the latter could be Dynamaxed like the former.[3] Nessa sent Dreadnaw and Quagsire to extinguish Eternatus' flames atop the Hammerlocke power plant.[4] Drednaw, however, was struck by Eternatus' beam, defeating this Pokémon instantly.[5]
