    Trivia[]

    Origin[]

Nacli appears to be based on a salt crystal embedded in a rock. Given its blocky, geometric appearance and the fact that Paldea, its home region, is based on the Iberian Peninsula, it may also be based on Cubism, an art movement pioneered by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. Its appearance is also similar to that of the various mushroom items in the Mario franchise.

    Etymology[]

Nacli is a combination of NaCl (the chemical formula for table salt; sodium chloride) and "little," with the I at the end possibly referring to iodine, an element commonly added to salt to prevent iodine deficiencies.

Kojio, its Japanese name, comes from 子 (ko, "child"), 小 (ko, "small"), 塩 (shio, "salt"), and "geo," a Greek root meaning "earth."
