Mr. Fuji is a kind-hearted old man that lives in Lavender Town. He is the main founder of the Cinnabar Island laboratory and loves all Pokémon. He cares for an orphaned Cubone after its mother, Marowak, is killed by Team Rocket. In the Generation I games, he gives the Trainer a Poké Flute, which can later be used to wake up the Snorlax on Route 12 and Route 16.
Appearance[]
Mr. Fuji has light skin and a bald head. His eyes are small and brown, and he has large, white eyebrows. He has a pointed nose and a wide, smiling mouth. The skin on his face is lightly wrinkled. He is often seen wearing a button-up shirt with a collar.
Personality[]
Mr. Fuji runs the Lavender Volunteer Pokémon House, a shelter for Pokémon that have been abandoned or orphaned, where he cares for them. In addition to Cubone, Mr. Fuji also cares for a Nidorino and a Psyduck. In Generations II and IV, he is shown to have a Pidgey, and in Generation III, he is shown to have a Weedle. He is known to read Pokémon Fan Magazine. Above all else, Mr. Fuji is a kind-hearted and shy man who deeply wishes for the happiness of all Pokémon.

Red, Green and Blue[]
Mr. Fuji is known by everyone as a kind man who looks after abandoned and orphaned Pokémon. After Cubone's mother is killed, he marches right up to Team Rocket's hideout and starts ranting about their abuse of Pokémon. Later, when Mr. Fuji goes to visit Cubone's mother's grave, Team Rocket appears and holds him hostage until the player shows up to rescue him.
Yellow[]
His role in Yellow is the same as it is in Red, Green and Blue.
Gold and Silver[]
Mr. Fuji has no major role in these games, but can be seen paying his respects to Pokémon who have passed away.
Crystal[]
His role in Crystal is the same as it is in Gold and Silver.
FireRed and LeafGreen[]
His role in "FireRed and LeafGreen" is very similar to his role in "Red, Green, and Blue", but in these games, a little bit more of his backstory is shown. Rumor says that Mr. Fuji wasn't originally from Lavender Town, but instead moved there from Cinnabar Island. Inside the Cinnabar Gym, there's a picture of Blaine and Mr. Fuji, which shows that the two of them are good friends. The residents of Lavender Town all adore and respect him as a kind-hearted old man. The editor for the Pokémon Journal requested an interview from Mr. Fuji, but he was too shy, so he turned them down.
HeartGold and SoulSilver[]
His role in "HeartGold and SoulSilver" is the same as it is in "Gold and Silver".
