Girafarig first appeared when it was being introduced to Ash Ketchum and his friends along with Morrison's other Pokémon.[1] After a day of hard training with Ash, Morrison laid on grass with his Pokémon, including Girafarig, to rest a bit.[2] Morrison sent Girafarig to battle Ash in the Ever Grande Conference. It used Light Screen, but was hit by Ash's Corphish's ViceGrip. It went to use Tackle, but the ground was too slippery (due to ice) and its attack failed, causing it to get hit by ViceGrip once more. Girafarig's movements were limited as Corphish hit it. It went to use Crabhammer, but was defeated by Corphish's Crabhammer.[3] To mark its defeat, Girafarig's face was blackened out on the scoreboard for the rest of the match.[4]
