The Moon Ball (ムーンボール, Moon Ball?) is an item introduced in Generation II.

The catch rate of a Moon Ball is 4x greater if used on a Pokémon that evolves using a Moon Stone.
Description[]
It has a blue and black top, with blue on the left side and black on the right meeting in a zig-zag pattern in the middle. On the top of the border of the two sides is a yellow crescent moon.

- The Moon Ball doesn't work as intended in Generation II, always having a 1x catch rate, the same as a normal Poké Ball. This is due to a programming oversight where, instead of checking if the Pokémon or another member of its line evolves by using a Moon Stone, it'll only apply the catch rate if the Pokémon has two or more branched evolutions, one of which it evolves into by using any item on it and one of which it evolves into by using a Burn Heal on it, which has never been an evolution method in any Pokémon games. The reason it checks for Burn Heal is because the Burn Heal's index number in Generation II, 0x0A, was the index number for the Moon Stone in Generation I. The Moon Stone's index number in Generation II is instead 0x08.
