Mintale Town is the main setting of Pokémon Channel.

Description[]

Though the player and Professor Oak are the only two humans in Pokémon Channel, Mintale Town is suggested to be inhabited by more humans. The hub location is the player's house, from which the player can access either the bus stop from the front door or their yard from the sliding door. To the south of the player's house are five inaccessible houses that each have an identical appearance, having three windows attached to the upper floor and a red roof. A straight road, where the bus stop is, separates the player's house from the other five houses.

The other four main locations of Mintale Town are not urbanized: Springleaf Field, a wide, grassy field with a windmill; Viridian Forest, a forest with many trees and mushrooms; Cobalt Coast, an open beach with a few palm trees; and Mt. Snowfall, a snow-covered mountain with igloos. Of the four locations, Springleaf Field is the only one accessible from the start, since the player can visit there from their yard directly. The player can travel to the other three main locations except Springleaf Field, although each of them require the player to have bought the appropriate bus pass from Shop 'N Squirtle.

Mintale Town is home to several Pokémon from the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn regions alike, and the player's Pikachu can interact with them. The Pokémon of Mintale Town wander around confidently, including the urban areas such as the bus stop, and do not hide in tall grass. The wild Pokémon are not bothered by the player's presence, nor do they attack them, suggesting that they are comfortable being around people in general.

Like the regions from the core series, Mintale Town has a variety of weather patterns, such as clear skies, cloudy skies, and rainfall. The player's yard in Mintale Town has the same weather as Springleaf Field.

Mintale Town is thought to be in the Kanto region, especially with Viridian Forest nearby. Both Cobalt Coast and Springleaf Field are locations returning from Hey You, Pikachu!, which does take place in Kanto. In the core series, however, Viridian Forest is surrounded by Route 2 and Indigo Plateau, and none of the other locations in Mintale Town ever appear.

Trivia[]

  • The setting of Hey You, Pikachu! and Pokémon Dash and Pikachu's similar role, especially in the former game, make it debatable whether they take place in Mintale Town.
  • Mintale Town is larger than what is shown on the map, since the broadcast center run by Blaziken cannot be accessed, nor can the museum run by Smeargle.
