Maushold (イッカネズミ, Ikkanezumi?) (MOUSE-hold[1]) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. It is the evolved form of Tandemaus.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Maushold has the same design with its pre-evolution, except one or two smaller members join in.
Behavior[]
Like their pre-evolution, Maushold create nests with whatever gets their interest. They create huge rooms and act much like a family would, with rooms being used for eating or sleeping. The smaller members appeared before the original pair one day. The exact relationship between them is not known, but the larger members protect the smaller ones in battles. If they face a particularly strong opponent, they will all fight together to defeat them.
Natural Abilities[]
Like their pre-evolution, Maushold can use the move Population Bomb. They are also the only Pokémon who can use the move Tidy Up.
Evolution[]
Maushold evolves from Tandemaus starting at level 25. Unlike other Pokémon, there is no evolution screen unless they are out of their Poké Ball.
When evolving from Tandemaus, there is a 99/100 chance for the resulting Maushold to be a family of four, and a 1/100 chance for a family of three.

Trivia[]
- While Maushold can randomly evolve to a three or four family pack, this is not the case in Tera Raid Battles; Maushold in four-star raids are always a family of three, while those in six-star raids are always a family of four.
- Maushold is one of the few Pokémon who do not have an evolution screen.
- This does not apply if Tandemaus was sent out of their Poké Ball right before evolution.
Origin[]
Maushold is based on a family of mice. The fact that one or two smaller appear upon evolution represents the mice ability to breed explosively. Specifically, their species' inspiration is derived from lab rats (regarding their white fur), and behavior wise Prairie voles. Their cute appearances might be inspired by plush toys and the Sylvanian Families toyline's characters.
The structure of this Pokémon is likely derived from the concept "Nuclear family", which consists of an opposite-sex or same-sex couple and their unmarried children living together.
Etymology[]
Maushold is derived from "maus", German for "mouse", and "household".
