Matori is a character appearing in Pokémon the Series. She is Giovanni's right-hand woman.

Personality[]

Matori rarely removes her seriousness, notably towards her duty as Giovanni's Second in Command, whom she always remains loyal to. She is incredibly harsh and demanding towards Jessie, James and Meowth, which leads to a tension between her and Jessie, who insults her behind her back, though she prefers ignoring their combative responses altogether.

As the leader of her special unit Matori Matrix, she is extremely vain because of her own high regards to her superior rank of being an elite operative. Goal-oriented, she will accomplish her goals at any cost, no matter how reckless her methods are.

Although Matori knows to reduce her potential losses such as picking Stufful instead of Bewear in order to reduce the risks of being caught by Bewear, she ends up developing a fear towards Bewear who answered her as she contacted the Team Rocket trio.

Biography[]

She was introduced as in the finale of the Diamond and Pearl Story Arc sent Delibird to tell Jessie, James and Meowth about their promotion.[1]

She was briefly mentioned in Pokémon the Series: XY , but didn't have any prominent role until Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, where she gained an Alolan Meowth after it officially joined Team Rocket by her boss Giovanni.[2]

She also contacted the trio when they were planning on getting a Z-ring. She took command of Team Rocket's Elite Force, the Matori Matrix, and was seen heading to Alola to catch Lunala, Solgaleo, and the mysterious Pokémon Necrozma.[3]

Sometime later, she accompanied her Alolan Meowth to Alola and they schemed on kidnapping both Bewear and Stufful, but they ended up having their nefarious plan foiled, thanks to Jessie and James who managed to switch Stufful with Meowth in his disguise just in time. She got terribly injured during her airship's explosion and is horrified of Bewear ever since.[4]

Matori ordered the Team Rocket trio to have a vacation at the Resort Area, which was actually an excuse to prevent them and for her Matrix team to rob all of the Trainers' Pokémon there. Her team was so strong that they even helped her catch Ash's Pikachu. Little did she know that the trio overheard her conversation with her Matrix members, and the trio ended up helping Ash and Goh to free all the Pokémon she captured. After her failed mission, during her contact with the Team Rocket trio her exhausted expression was an implication of her being reprimanded by Giovanni off-screen, and she begrudgingly cut off the phone call after the trio humiliated her.[5]
