Maren is a character appearing in The Power of One.
Biography[]
Maren is a captain of her own boat. She is first seen with Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Togepi and Tracey, as she takes them through the Orange Islands. When a sudden storm erupts around them, they are thrown off course to Shamouti Island. The island inhabitants approach them and Maren is recognised by one of them named Carol. The two friends greet each other and talk about the Annual Legend Ceremony, to which Ash is picked as the "Chosen One".
Later, Maren joins Carol and everyone else at the Festival Banquet to watch Melody play the Guardian Song on her Ocarina. Ash immediately wants to collect the treasures and Maren is amazed by his attitude that she volunteers to help on her boat. Pikachu then grabs Ash's hat and both Ash and Maren follow him to the boat.
Maren then takes Ash and Pikachu across the sea when another violent storm emerges. In the chaos, the rudder on Maren's boat is chipped off by a rock and they are thrown into the shores of Fire Island. Ash runs off to follow Pikachu, despite Maren warning him that another storm may kick up again. With nothing to do but wait, Maren sits inside her boat and makes herself some coffee and opens a bag of chips. Suddenly a wave knocks her boat again and she rushes outside to see Melody, Misty and Tracey have borrowed Carol's boat and followed in pursuit. She tells them where Ash is and that her boat is in bad shape.
Maren does not appear until the end credits of the movie. Her boat is fixed and she says goodbye to Carol, Melody and the Chief as she rides off through the now calm ocean.
