Magnitude is a Ground-typemove introduced in Generation II. It is unusual because the move's power varies with each use. Magnitude will randomly choose one of seven possible levels, numbered 4-10. The higher the level, the more powerful the move will be. Magnitude 7 is the most common, occurring 30% of the time. Magnitudes 4 and 10 are the least common, at 5% each.

In the Mystery Dungeon series
Magnitude deals 5 points of damage at Magnitude 4, and deals an additional 5 points of damage for each order of magnitude, with 20 being excluded for unknown reasons. STAB, weakness, and resistance all affect damage. Pokémon with the ability Levitate and Pokémon that are under the effects of Magnet Rise are fully immune to this move. The move does "direct" damage, that is, attacking and defending stats do not affect this move's damage.
