Lurantis (Japanese: ラランテス, Hepburn: Rarantesu) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII. It is the evolved form of Fomantis.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Lurantis is a plant-like Pokémon with insectoid traits. Its body has shades of pink with white accents. It has light red eyes and two green antennae with a small green lump between them. There are four extensions to the top half of its head: two on the top with red tips that resemble ears, and one on each side with white tips that resemble stylized hair. Its forearms resembles a mantis's arm and are each tipped with a green claw.
Behavior[]
Lurantis are able to defeat their enemies with their elegant appearance and pleasant-smelling aroma. Due to their beautiful moves and bright coloration, Lurantis are said to be the most beautiful of all Grass-type Pokémon. Also, they dislike lazy trainers as they mostly want their trainers to look after them with care. They use their sickle-shaped petals to fire devastating energy beams by drawing sunlight, which have enough strength to slice through thick metal plates.
With enough care from its trainer, a Lurantis will display vivid colors.
Diet[]
Lurantis feeds on small bugs, which it lures to itself by imitating a flower.
Evolution[]
Lurantis evolves from Fomantis at Lv. 34 during the daytime.

Pokédex entries[]
- Sun
It requires a lot of effort to maintain Lurantis’s vivid coloring, but some collectors enjoy this work and treat it as their hobby.
- Moon
It fires beams from its sickle-shaped petals. These beams are powerful enough to cleave through thick metal plates.
- Ultra Sun
For self-protection, it pretends to be a bug Pokémon. Both of its arms bear keen-edged petals.
- Ultra Moon
As it slashes into its enemies, it looks like it’s dancing. Its elegant appearance has led some to call it the most glamorous Grass Pokémon.
- Sword
This Pokémon resembles a beautiful flower. A properly raised Lurantis will have gorgeous, brilliant colors.
- Shield
The petals on this Pokémon's arms are thin and super sharp, and they can fire laser beams if Lurantis gathers light first.
- Scarlet
By masquerading as a bug Pokémon, it lowers the guard of actual bug Pokémon lured in by a scent of sweet flowers. Its sickles bring them down.
- Violet
A lot of time and effort is required to maintain the vivid colors of its petals. This Pokémon puts its Trainer's attentiveness to the test.

Appearances[]
Origin[]
Lurantis is based on the concept of an orchid mantis, but reversed. Orchid mantises use their color and claws to look like flowers, however, Lurantis is based on a flower imitating a mantis, explaining why it is a Grass-type Pokémon instead of a Bug-type Pokémon. Its body also resembles a kimono dress.
Etymology[]
Lurantis comes from lure, fleur (French for "flower") and mantis.

Trivia[]
- Despite having a feminine look, Lurantis is able to have a 50% chance of being male or female.
