Lotus is Gemma's mother, who worked as a gardener. One day, however, most of the villagers were gone, since a drought has evaporated the land, leaving it dry. To help out his family, Gemma's father left Lotus and Gemma to find a source of water for the land. Gemma searched for a Jirachi to complete her wish, but one day, injured her knee. Lotus healed her, but warned her not to do something dangerous. When Gemma found Jirachi and made her wish, Lotus arrived and saw her husband coming to the shrine. Water was soon discovered, meaning Gemma, Lotus and her husband were re-united as a family.
