Starting in Generation IV, Pokémon in the video games sometimes had minor visual differences depending on their gender, or gender differences. Some differences were easily visible, while some are hard to see without looking closely. An example is Magikarp, as male Magikarp have yellow whiskers while female Magikarp have white whiskers. When it evolves into Gyarados, the males' whiskers become blue like its body while the females' whiskers stay white.

Generation I

0032 & 0029	Nidoran			Male Nidoran are purple, while female Nidoran are pink. They also have seperate evolutionary lines.
0041	Zubat			Male Zubat’s fangs are larger and thicker than female Zubat’s fangs.
0042	Golbat			Male Golbat’s teeth are larger and thicker than the female Golbat’s fangs.
0044	Gloom			Females have one large white spot on the buds, while males have multiple smaller spots.
0045	Vileplume			Female Vileplume have larger, and less pots on the petals, while males have smaller and more spots.
0064	Kadabra			Female Kadabra have smaller whiskers than male Kadabra.
0065	Alakazam			Female Alakazam have smaller whiskers than male Alakazam.
0084	Doduo			Male Doduo have black necks, while female Doduo have beige necks.

0214	Heracross			Female Heracross have a heart shaped horn at the end, while male Heracross have a shark tail shape.

0449	Hippopotas			Male and female Hippopotas's color patterns are inverted.
0450	Hippowdon			Male Hippowdon's body is yellow, while the female's is dark grey.
0453	Croagunk			Female Croagunk's bandages are placed higher on her torso than the male's.

Generation V

Generation VI

0668	Pyroar			Male Pyroar is generally more bulky and muscular and he has a great, fiery red and yellow mane encircling his head while female is more slender and sleek and she has a long flare-like tuft of flaming fur of the same color atop her head.
0678	Meowstic			Male Meowstic have green eyes and short, spiky dark blue fur with white accents while female have yellow eyes and long, curled white fur with dark blue accents.

Generation VIII

Generation IX

Trivia

• Generation IV introduced the most Pokémon with gender differences, having 31 different Pokémon.
  • In contrast to this, Generation VI and Generation VIII introduced the least Pokémon with gender differences, both only introducing 2.
• Generation VII is currently the only generation that did not introduce a new Pokémon with a gender difference. However, it gave Eevee, a previously introduced Pokémon, a new gender difference.
  • This also makes Eevee the only pre-existing Pokémon to gain a gender difference after their introduction in Generation IV.
• The Flying type currently has the most Pokémon with gender differences, having 18 different Pokémon species.
  • In contrast to this, the Ghost and Steel type tie for the least amount of Pokémon with gender differences, each having only 2.
  • The Fairy type is currently the only type to not have any Pokémon with a gender difference.
