This Floragato is a Grass-type First partner Pokémon owned by Liko. She can Terastallize into a Grass-type Pokémon.
Personality[]
Initially, Floragato was shown as disobedient towards Liko after being given to her as her first Pokémon. She is rather cold and distant, unlike her kind which is known for being attention seekers. Floragato is also very wary of strangers such as when she suspected Amethio from his arrival. She is also hostile towards Onia despite her affection towards her. During her past at Manya's home, she accidentally injured one of her friends which caused her worry. Once she was comforted by Liko, she was able to overcome the uncertainty in her heart.
However, seeing Liko's determination, kindness and selflessness, Floragato grew to care for her Trainer and enjoys being with her. Unlike Liko, Floragato is rasher and more headstrong, preferring to face her foes heads-on, even if it means getting herself harmed. She is also fun-loving and able to befriend others quickly.
She likes to sunbathe on top of the roofs of buildings, due to her kind's affinity with sunlight. As seen in "Special Training With Cap!" and "Farewell, Sprigatito?", Floragato has been shown to like bitter food and Matcha/Green-Tea flavored sweets.
She is also a perceptive individual, able to sense Amethio's deception in "The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One)" at first glance.
When she evolved into Floragato, she appears to have retained her personality as a Sprigatito. However, she is now more open to be more affectionate towards Liko as well.
Although mostly independent and collected, Floragato can sometimes get jealous anyway if Liko isn't spending enough time with her.
Relationships[]
Liko[]
Her trainer, Floragato initially didn't get along with Liko as she refused to listen to the human's requests and preferred to be alone. Overtime, the two developed their bond when Liko went to rescue Sprigatito from the Explorers' clutches.
Hattrem[]
A Psychic type Pokémon Floragato (as a Sprigatito) and her trainer met in the Galar region, Floragato sees Hattrem as a little sister figure upon the Calm Pokémon's recruitment into Liko's team.
Terapagos[]
A mysterious Pokémon that originated from her trainer's pendant, Floragato was initially jealous of Terapagos for taking Liko's attention. Despite that, Floragato takes great care in looking out for Terapagos' well-being.
Biography[]
As Sprigatito[]
Sprigatito was raised by the Breeder Manya at her home, who raised cat-like Pokémon. Unlike the other Sprigatito, who liked to play with one another, this particular Sprigatito was more of a loner, preferring to sunbathe at the roof of Manya's house. When she saved another Pokémon with her Leafage, she became popular with the other Pokémon. When a wild Spidops caused trouble at the home, Sprigatito drove it away with her Leafage, but unintentionally hurt her friends in the process, causing her to be shunned and feared by them. Sprigatito later noticed Liko during a video conference when Manya took her to meet up with the other Indigo Academy's First partner Pokémon, and took an interest in Liko.[1]
Sprigatito was chosen by Liko during her first few days at Indigo Academy. Despite her efforts, Sprigatito showed no interest in Liko and ran off. During the chase, Liko uses the scent Sprigatito left behind to track her movements. Liko soon found Sprigatito on top of a roof where she was sunbathing. Sprigatito then leaps off in spite of her trainer telling she not to be reckless. After meeting Amethio, who claimed to have been sent by Liko's grandmother, Sprigatito was suspicious of his motives and tried to sneak out with Liko, but her clumsiness resulted in her being caught by Amethio's associates, though they eventually escaped with the help of Professor Friede.[2] Friede brought Liko and Sprigatito to his ship, the Brave Olivine, where she played with a Rockruff before she was interrupted by Amethio and his associates pursuing them. Liko initially went with Amethio to avoid causing trouble, but when Amethio's fight with Friede resulted in other Pokémon being hurt, she asked them to stop. Sprigatito did not appreciate this and wanted to fight, causing Liko to realize she was lying to herself all along. Sprigatito unleashed a powerful Leafage, though she ended up destroying the barrier surrounding the ship's wind deck and resulted in she sliding off the ship. Amethio was able to catch Sprigatito with his Corviknight, though he did not return she to Liko and instead ordered a retreat.[3]
While in the Explorers' custody, Sprigatito was well treated by Onia, who had taken a liking to her. Nonetheless, Sprigatito eventually reunited with Liko, unleashing another powerful Leafage to escape from Onia and her Skarmory.[4]
After becoming official members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, Sprigatito was quick to find a favorite spot to sunbathe on the observatory deck. She later accompanied Liko to find Fuecoco when he ended up unaccounted for during meal time. Tracking down Fuecoco's scent, Sprigatito and her trainer were noticed by a group of Pokémon that believed they were the thieves that took their food and were pursued by the angry Bug types. The two were then later rescued by a local boy who had Fuecoco with him.[5]
Later, Sprigatito fought against Onia and her Golduck. Despite Onia being affectionate towards Sprigatito earlier, Sprigatito was wary and defeated them. They were later faced by Amethio's Corviknight but luckily Liko's pendant saved them. Sprigatito then battled along with Fuecoco against Amethio and his Ceruledge. Suddenly a Black Rayquaza appeared from Roy's ancient Poké Ball forcing the Explorers to retreat. [6]
Sprigatito battled with Roy and his Fuecoco, but they were unable to make any improvement as both Pokémon get tired. After learning about Dot - another member of the crew, they try talking with her but that doesn't work as Dot doesn't respond back. After that Liko and Roy become determined to get stronger and ask Friede to help. Friede arranges a Special Training session for them, allowing them to have a battle with Captain Pikachu, promising to them that if they landed a single attack, they would win. Liko and Roy struggle with Pikachu's Double Team but Liko manages to figure out where the real Captain Pikachu is. Sprigatito almost lands an attack but she misses and fails to do so. Later again during a battle with Roy's Fuecoco, Sprigatito wins while learning a new move, Quick Attack.[7]
Upon arriving at Paldea, Sprigatito enjoyed exploring the place along with Liko. When they reached Liko's house, Sprigatito behaved strangely as Liko was getting along with her father, Alex's Pokemon, Fidough. Liko felt that the adventure was over and was unsure about what to do, due to which she didn't notice the change in Sprigatito right away. Liko went up to her room, but realizes that Sprigatito didn't follow her. She starts looking for she everywhere and eventually sees Sprigatito resting on top of one of the shelves. As Liko decides to stay on the Brave Olivia for the night, Sprigatito doesn't come with her and even refuses to return to her Pokéball. Having no choice, Liko leaves Sprigatito at her home for the night while she leaves. During the night, Sprigatito eventually gets along with Fidough as they sleep together on the sofa. The next morning, Roy tells Liko that he thinks Sprigatito behaved that way when he saw Liko getting along with Fidough so well. Upon hearing this, Liko feels bad that she didn't even realize her feelings. She immediately heads home thinking about Sprigatito and buys her cake along the way. However, Liko is encountered by a wild Lechonk. Fortunately, Sprigatito arrives in time to help Liko. They both battle the wild Pokémon and leave it running away with a strong Quick Attack.[8]
They explore their way through Arboliva's Forest. Sprigatito finds a bush of Oran berries. Mollie informs Liko that Oran berries are used to heal Pokémon and that they should collect it. Liko and Sprigatito continue exploring, finding more Oran Berries. However, they get lost in the process. Liko remembers that they had decided to meet under the Big Tree if they get lost, so they head for it. Along the way, they discover a Paldean Wooper, which was badly injured due to the fire. Liko tries to feed it an Oran Berry but is interrupted by a wild Cacnea and a wild Shroomish. The Shroomish attacks using Stun Spore but Sprigatito quickly defends with a Leafage. Before they could act they see Wooper being carried away by a Hoppip. Later, Sprigatito is seen battling alongside Roy's Fuecoco against the big tree which turns out be a massive Arboliva. They manage to make Arboliva fall with the help of Sprigatito's Quick Attack, Leafage and Fuecoco's Stomping Tantrum. As Fuecoco was in danger of getting hurt by the falling Arboliva, Sprigatito uses Quick Attack to save him.[9] Upon realizing the state of the forest, Sprigatito and her trainer went to work to help restore the forest by planting berries. After the greenery was restored, Sprigatito, her trainer, Fuecoco and Roy were shown an illusion of the Legendary adventurer.[10]
Whilst on a shopping trip, Sprigatito and her trainer were intercepted by a mysterious man and a Beheeyem who used its psychic powers to wipe both the Grass Cat Pokémon and Liko of their memories.[11] Whilst in Levincia, Sprigatito and Liko start to pick up on lost memories and end up in a collaboration between Nidothing and Iono where they become targets of a person search. Upon reaching the rooftop, the two regain their memories upon gazing at the full moon. After reuniting with Friede, Roy and Dot, they set their sights on retrieving the pendant from the man with the Beheeyem.[12] Sprigatito congratulates Quaxly for registering inside Dot's Pokéball. Later on, the teams split up to find Liko's pendant after noticing the Ancient Pokéball glow. As Quaxly uses Water Gun in the air, Sprigatito and the team hurry over and make it to the cargo ship just before it leaves the port. After Quaxly falters in battle against Spinel's Magneton and Beheeyem, she saves Quaxly by hitting Spinel's Magneton with Quick Attack. As Spinel retaliates with a combo move from Magneton and Beheeyem, Sprigatito blocks the move second time round with Leafage, saving the team. Sprigatito and Quaxly pair up to defeat Beheeyem. After Spinel's Magneton faints thanks to Roy's Pokémon, he sends out an Umbreon, which the Pokémon struggle against. Liko activates the pendant, requesting its retrieval. The pendant is eventually forced out of Spinel's possession, which Sprigatito retrieves back to Liko. She is then transported by Arboliva back to the airship. Liko has also been told that Dot is not a Nidothing fan, but that she's the real Nidothing, causing her and Liko to scream in panic.[13]
Sprigatito notices Wattrel not getting along with Fuecoco, growling and eventually attacking him forcing Roy to break up the fight. A moment later, she is forced to block her ears after Wattrel uses Uproar. After enjoying snack time with Murdock's Rockruff, Sprigatito, along with the rest of the crew watches Fuecoco and Wattrel battling Friede's Captain Pikachu. The next day, she, along with the rest of the crew, watch Roy's rematch against Cap. [14]
After Liko learns about Murdock's past with his estranged friend Mitchell, Sprigatito is sent out to team up with Murdock's Alcremie to help Murdock settle his score with Mitchell. At first, Sprigatito is stuck in Mitchell's Slurpuff's cream, but is freed by Alcreamie's Decorate, ans succeeds in inflicting damage on both Slurpuff and Appletun. She then assists Murdock and Alcreamie in accentuating their strawberry cakes' aroma with her Leafage, when the double battle suddenly gets turned into a cooking showdown.[15]
During Kabu's training, Sprigatito is sent out to extinguish the Motostoke Stadium's Litwick's flames. However, Sprigatito becomes disgruntled when Liko hesitates, which leads to Roy's victory. When Liko tries acquiescing her own victory to Wakaba, Sprigatito becomes more frustrated at Liko. Liko, after being advised by Kabu on being more mindful to Sprigatito's feelings, then apologizes to Sprigatito, who later forgives her. [16]
When a wild Hatenna is being rescued and cared for by Liko, Sprigatito gradually befriends the Hatenna. When Hatenna is about to return to the forest after having recovered, Sprigatito begs Hatenna to stay, which succeeds in changing Hatenna's mind, and Sprigatito becomes Hatenna's teammate.[17]
Sprigatito soon meets Liko's grandmother Diana, although she is wary of and almost scratches Diana.[18]Sprigatito later battles against Onia to protect Terapagos, which she wins against.[19]However, she gets jealous when Liko begins spending more time with Terapagos than her, until Liko remembers to spend more attention on her after being reminded by Diana.[20]
When the Ancient Poké Ball has been stolen by Tepen, Sprigatito and Fuecoco are sent out to battle against Tepen, although they are soon hypnotized by Tepen's Foongus.[21]
Under Diana's request, Sprigatito and Fuecoco learn to become more cooperative during battles, which fulfills Diana's requirement before Diana takes her departure.[22]
When a pair of Tandemaus needs the Rising Volt Tacklers' help, Sprigatito follows Liko into a cave, where they find out that the Pokémon are actually a Maushold. They get trapped inside the cave, until Hatenna arrives to heal the Maushold.[23]
After accidentally hurting Liko with Leafage during a battle against Fuecoco, Sprigatito runs away out of guilt, returning to Manya's home. However, she returns to Liko upon realizing Liko loves and cares for her regardless, and defeats the Spidops who once captured her former friends and now Hatenna and Terapagos. After saving Hatenna and Terapagos and having learned Magical Leaf, Sprigatito succeeds in defeating Fuecoco, and her bond with Liko strengthens.[1]
When facing Sidian and Garganacl, Sprigatito is overwhelmed despite her type advantage, due to Garganacl's Salt Cure and Stone Edge. She only gets to inflict damage on Garganacl when her Overgrow ability is activated. However, the battle is interrupted because of Explorers' headquarters' summoning for Sidian and Coral.[24]
When challenged by Lucius' Rayquaza, Liko deploys Sprigatito to quell Rayquaza, when Sprigatito finally evolves into Floragato.[25]
As Floragato[]
After evolving, Floragato saves Fuecoco from descending onto the ground. Despite still being unable to overpower Rayquaza, Floragato is happy to be able to hug Liko, signifying her bond with Liko growing stronger.[25]
Floragato later has a battle against Ann's Dewott at the Naranja Academy, which she triumphs.[26]
During Katy's dessert-making test, Floragato and Liko are able to make matcha cakes that fulfill Katy's prerequisites. She later wields Terastalization for the first time during her battle with Katy's Teddiursa. Although being overwhelmed by Teddiursa, Floragato and Liko still pass Katy's requirements because of their great performance during the battle.[27]
When Liko is once again preoccupied with looking after Hatenna and Terapagos, Floragato feels ignored and accidentally hurts Liko with her prickly fur. Floragato then looks after Hatenna and retreieves the lost Terapagos, then heads off to search for Liko when she believes her Trainer is being endangered. After being stopped from attacking some Toedscool by Liko and the same group of Toedscool saving Floragato and her teammates from a pit, Floragato and her team watch the Toedscool being blown away. She then again forgives Liko and continue being Liko's partner.[28]
As Floragato and Katy's Lokix are pitted against Rika's Clodsire and Dugtrio, Floragato tries her best to use her newly learned Acrobatics and even [Terastalizes to go against Clodsire. However, she is still overwhelmed and defeated by Clodsire's Earth Power.[29]
Floragato is later sent out against Grusha's Cetitan. After Hattrem is knocked out by Cetitan, Floragato returns to use Magical Leaf to knock out Cetitan. However, she is soon overwhelmed by Grusha's Altaria, which leads to Grusha failing Liko's test.[30] Afterwards, Floragato confronts Amethio's Ceruledge at Glaseado Mountains, where Liko starts feeling hesitant when seeing Ceruledge's Terastalization, when Spinel appears to interrupt them.[31] Floragato, along with Liko and Terapagos, then gets trapped inside a cave set up by Spinel, until Amethio finds a way to get themselves out.[32]
When Floragato and Liko find out that Naranja Academy has been attacked by the Explorers, Floragato battles against Sidian's Garganacl, which she succeeds in winning through Terastalization. This battle is witnessed by Grusha, who finally approves of Floragato and Liko passing their test.[33]
Floragato is sent out against Fuecoco during the Course Students Battle Tournament. She is briefly returned to her Poké Ball after being paralyzed by Roy's Kilowattrel's Spark, but resumes battling after Hattrem heals her with the Healer ability. However, she is still defeated after Fuecoco evolves into Crocalor. She later meets up woth Katy and Grusha, who encourages her and Liko to strive on getting stronger in the future, before she and Liko take their departure from Naranja Academy.[34]
