Lian is a character appearing in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Appearance[]
Lian is a young boy with light brown curly hair, which cover the top of his eyes. He is shown wearing the Pearl Clan outfit bearing the symbol and covered in dirt, and wears a hat much like Clay's, suggesting that they may be related in some way. He also wears a small brown bracelet depicting an image of Kleavor.
Personality[]
He is described by Mai as a brilliant boy, although he was unsure of what to do when finding a solution to approach Kleavor without getting hurt (even Mai doubts his brilliance before the player meets him). He opened to the player after accepting the balms of Kleavor's favorite foods.
He finds many things fascinating such as the process of capturing and comfortably placing Pokémon inside Poké Balls, and how Kleavor had calmed down after the player threw enough food balms to quench its berserk rage.
Etymology[]
Correlating to the recurring plant themes, Lian is derived from the Helianthus tuberosus family, also known as the Jerusalem artichoke.
One of the Chinese origins of Lian's name means "graceful willow" or means "lotus". Its Germanic origin meaning is known as "desire" or "helmet".
Trivia[]
- At first Lian was shown as the youngest warden, until Sabi was introduced. He may still have this distinction though, as neither him nor Sabi have had their exact ages disclosed.
