Not to be confused with Green, a character in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! and other media.

Leaf is the female playable character in Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version. Her male counterpart is Red.

Appearance[]

Leaf is a sweet, young girl with slightly messy dark brown hair that flows down to her lower back. She wears a sleeveless teal, sometimes cyan, shirt with a bit of black, a short pinkish-red skirt, cyan slouch socks, and white shoes with a pinkish-red stripe in the middle. Like many Pokémon protagonists, Leaf wears a white bucket hat with a pinkish-red Poke Ball logo and black wristbands much like Red, while carrying a bright yellow messenger bag.

Personality[]

Her personality was challenging to discern due to it being almost completely non-existent. This was made worse by the fact that she never appeared if Red was chosen as a playable character instead of her, in addition to the fact that Red is actually the canon protagonist and that Leaf never appeared with him in Sun and Moon. In fact, due to her being Red's counterpart, Leaf's personality was, for all intents and purposes, identical to his (i.e. quiet and compassionate).

Biography[]

Games[]

Leaf is a young girl from Pallet Town. The local Pokémon expert, Professor Oak, stops her from leaving town one day, saying that she needs a Pokémon for her protection. Upon doing this, Oak takes her to his lab and allows Leaf to choose one of three starter Pokémon, along with his grandson and her rival Blue.

After spending some time with her Pokémon, and returning to Pallet Town, Professor Oak gives both her and Blue a Pokédex so that they can fill it with information on Pokémon. This is the start of Leaf's Pokémon journey throughout the Kanto region.

Trivia[]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, one of Jigglypuff's alternate costumes includes Leaf's hat. In opposition, Pikachu can wear Red's hat.
  • She is Red's alternate color swap in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
  • Leaf makes a 3D appearance in Pokémon Colosseum, despite Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version being released after Colosseum. Leaf is only seen in Battle mode, when using a FireRed or LeafGreen save file with the Female option saved to either register a team from Leaf's party or to participate in a Link Battle using a team from her currently saved party. Leaf returns in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness under the same save file conditions, but only for Link Battles.
