Layuda Island is a location in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. It is one of the seven islands of the Oblivia region.

Overview

Layuda Island is one of the islands in the Oblivia region. Due to the constant violent lightning storm surrounding the island is only accessible by riding Latios or Latias, depending on the Player's gender. The mountain that is located on Layuda Island is called Mt. Layuda. The top part of the mountain, where Zapdos's nest is, can only be accessed by having the Ranger Sign of Raikou.

The Player and Partner arrive at the mountain to stop Purple Eyes from awakening Zapdos. After getting past Purple Eyes's steelhead and Pinchers, the rangers confront Purple Eyes in Zapdos nest and defeat him before Zapdos can be awoken fully. Unfortunately, a mysterious man arrives and awakes Zapdos himself, prompting the rangers to go after him. In the post-game, Zapdos and the other legendary birds rampage across the sky and return to their respective islands when found by the Player and Partner. When the Player and Partner discover a piece of the golden armor had landed in Zapdos' nest and its power was the source of the legendary bird's behavior. After Zapdos is captured, the armor piece is recovered and Zapdos is freed from its influence.

After all the golden armor pieces are recovered, the Player can challenge Zapdos again by using its Ranger Sign at its nest.
