Lampent (Japanese: ランプラー Ranpuraa) is a Ghost/Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
Biology
Physiology
Lampent is a ghostly Pokémon that appears to be a haunted lantern or street lamp. It has a black cone-shaped cap with pointed tip at the top, and a cylindrical spool-shaped black lower body with two long arms curling from beneath it. Its head appears to be a glass bulb with a blazing purple flame contained inside; it has two small glowing yellow eyes (similar to the eyes of its pre-evolution Litwick) on the outside of its glass head, and no visible mouth.
Behavior
According to legend, Lampent floats around seeking the dead or dying and feeds on their spirits, especially in hospitals. But it is apparently not very dangerous as it has been seen with young trainers.
Evolution
Lampent is the evolved form of Litwick, as of level 41, while Lampent itself evolves into Chandelure with the use of a Dusk Stone.

Trivia
- Lampent, other than its evolutions, is the only Ghost/Fire type.
- Lampent is October on the Pokémon Horoscope.
- Lampent is the only Pokémon in the Litwick evolution line not to have a flame/flames outside its body.
Origin
Lampent is based on a haunted lantern; more specifically, it seems to be based on a Victorian-style street lamp. The flames of this Pokémon's line are a play on the depiction of ghosts or spirits appearing as ghastly flames/lights in Japanese culture, or the legend of the will-o'-the-wisp.
Etymology
It may be a combination of the words 'lamp' and 'lament', the act of grieving or mourning, as it is a Ghost Pokémon.
